RE: Is Johnny Manziel being kicked out a frat part news worthy?
This is just silly season stuff. It's nothing more than killing the time news right now. Of course if he comes out and stinks it up this year it's going to be major news and he's going to get crushed for all this crap he's been doing. If he plays like last year he'll end up being more popular for it.

But there's a lot of stuff reported that I wouldn't call news, but people are dumb enough to lap it up. Who really gives a royal fvck about the birth of another kid to the royal family? Does it matter if some famous actor acts like a moron in public and it gets reported? To me it isn't, but to plenty of other people it sadly is.

To be fair, that kid is going to be the Head of State of England some day. That alone makes it newsworthy. And personally I find it refreshing for the media to highlight positive stories about positive role models.

As someone who got booted out of a couple of frat parties on other campuses in my college days, I can tell you that it's easier than you think to tick off Big State School frat boys, especially after they get drunk drinking 2 Nati lights (most of them are lightweights). But Johnny Football isn't "acting like a normal college kid" as he claims to be. A normal college kid would realize that he's messing up his future career by attempting to do the same thing that other college kids do. Big difference between acting as a normal college kid would in your situation, and doing what other college kids do.

RE: Is Johnny Manziel being kicked out a frat part news worthy?
http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9...n-magazine

Quote: A jagged line marked the back left quarter panel; even before Johnny tweeted that he wanted to leave College Station, someone had keyed his car. When Johnny arrived at his grandmother's house in Tyler on this Wednesday, Paul leaned over and silently ran his finger along the length of the cut, seeing what someone had done. He felt helpless. Building tension from the past week, and from the seven months of scrutiny that preceded it, had left his son on edge and exhausted.

Quote:Back home, according to the Manziels, the cops saw Johnny's illegal parking job. Instead of writing him a ticket, the cops knocked on the front door after midnight and awoke his roommate. The police wanted to know whose car was parked the wrong way, offering the offender a chance to move it without getting a ticket. The intrusion set Johnny off. "They know where Johnny lives," Paul says. "They take him home after the games. They know whose car it is. They are harassing him."

So he'd sent the tweet early Sunday morning, then deleted it, then apologized, literally begging people to understand his life, which earned him more ridicule, and by Tuesday, the day before he went home to play golf with his dad, the student newspaper ran a column urging him to leave after the season: "Johnny, Be Gone."

Quote:Nate showed up a few minutes later.

"He's gotta get out of this fishbowl," he said. "If he's getting in trouble for sending a tweet

Quote:While Nate explains the insanity of their lives, as if on cue another negative story breaks, this one about Johnny almost being suspended for the season last year after his arrest and coming within five days of transferring. Nate reads the news on his phone and looks concerned.

"How'd that get out?" he asks. "Less than 50 people know that. That's someone in the school talking."

He's suspicious about this story, which credits an unnamed source. Nate thinks Texas A&M is leaking on its star quarterback, and in the end it doesn't even really matter if that is true or not. There's been a growing rift between the school and its most important student. It's not just Nate's paranoia about the story, or Johnny's frustrations with the nonfootball, marketing expectation of the school, or his father's sense of injustice that everyone makes money off his son but his son. The rift is more profound. Many people close to Johnny Manziel no longer believe in the integrity of the institutions charged with protecting him.

Quote:The family is angry about the trophy, which really is a symbol for every little indignity, real and imagined, fueling the rift. This January, Johnny's family wanted his copy of the Heisman, which the school told them hadn't arrived yet from New York, Paul says. So finally Paul contacted the Heisman Trust, which told them it had shipped the trophy directly to Texas A&M. Paul suspected the school misled him, using the second Heisman to double its fundraising and recruiting possibilities. Texas A&M, through a spokesman, appeared baffled at the accusation, and it's difficult to find the line between a lie and a simple miscommunication. (The Manziels received their Heisman in January.)

LOL at all the faux outrage

The haters just cant stand that Johnny is playing for A&M and are desperate for any sign that he wont be suiting up for us in the fall.

They're gonna be disappointed!

10th, I think Johnny is an amazing football player but that article clearly shows that he and his family dislike A&M and College Station.

I think a lot of people want to believe that really badly.

My brother actually met the kid this summer (my bro has no college affiliation) and talked with him for a while. Said he talked up A&M and how much he loved the school and coaches. Take that for what it's worth but he was under no obligation to say that and that's not something a kid who hates it there would say.

Like I said, I think the whole "he hates A&M and is miserable there" is wishful thinking by those who hate the success he's brought to A&M

Maybe Johnny likes A&M, maybe he doesn't. His "personal assistant" and his father paint a completely different picture. Like I said, I think he is a phenom and I have no problem with his success regardless of what school he is doing it at.

With a huge target on his back this season, it will be interesting to see how he handles increased media scrutiny.

Yes we have. We have become a pretty silly society. The media searches high and low for controversy because it sells.

When the Heisman Trophy winner tries to go to a fraternity party at a rival school - and gets booted because he's a rival - it's news. So is every other incident where Johnny Football reminds folks that he's like every other stupid kid out there...

Like it or not, him winning the Heisman put him in the national spotlight. If he can't stand the heat, he'll be booted from the kitchen soon enough...

He is no Ernie Davis...sigh.
