Football Recruiting
I saw this article on recruit757 and thought it was a pretty good read. I really like the process that Coach Wilder and the staff have in place.

I am a parent with a rising collegiate bound daughter looking at soccer scholarships.......putting the "student" as the number one consideration would have me sold along with the coaches knowing my daughter. A parallel to......"I like Coach Wilder's process"

Speaking of recruiting what are the odds we hold on to Bentley?

I will give us a 50-50 chance of holding on to him as it stands right now between ODU and Cincy. His main problem will be the same as Heinicke's. At 6'1", he will be considered too short by most of the BCS schools. That is in our favor. If he has another really great year and gets more BCS offers, our odds of holding him will drop drastically.

Wikipedia on Tuberville:
Quote:Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt revealed that Tuberville had assured him that he was committed to Texas Tech, however Tuberville then left for Cincinnati the very next day.[16] Additionally, Tuberville reportedly left two potential Texas Tech recruits at a restaurant for a dinner he had invited them to. He left the restaurant and did not return after receiving a phone call that revealed he had got the job at Cincinnati.

Sounds like a great guy. 03-lmfao

Isn't Tuberville the one that slapped his QB coach around on national television. Smacked the headset right off of him.

WOW.........what a charmer. You could never convince me this guy is role model. Poor example for any young man to emulate. Ouch.

We all have bad days, but no excuse for that conduct.

Hah good grief. I'd lose my job if he were my boss and he slapped the headphones off me like that because I'd more than likely strike him in the throat without thinking and before he hit the ground I'd have my resignation signed.

If Shane McCarley is the next Heincke will Shuler Bentley want to wait four years to play?

RE: Football Recruiting
It is also a valid question to ask this: "If Shuler Bentley is the next Taylor Heinicke, will Shane McCarley want to hang around three years as the backup?"

Both of these guys are very talented quarterbacks who have strong beleif in themselves. They are obviously both great competitors. I think that with recruiting at this level, the conumdrum occurs at every position on the team, but the dilema is magnified at the QB position. Once Shuler is on board, the competition will begin and the quarterback controversy will be the problem for Wilder to solve.

Bottom line, if ODU is going to have a quarterback problem, what a great problem to have.

04-cheers

It's not a problem yet. Never know how that talent will translate to the college level.

RE: Football Recruiting
With Bobby Wilder and Ron Whitcomb running the quarterback situation at ODU, i simply don't see problems with our quarterback position. They will make the right decisions and the ones that can't wait their turn to play will simply do otherwise. The best quarterback will play.

RE: Football Recruiting
Bobby and Ron took a JuCo punter and turned him into our starting QB. Then took an unrated player with not one offer and turned him into the Walter Payton player of the year. What do you think they can do with either of these guys?

In fairness to DeMarco, he was a D1 punter, Juco QB
