RE: USM's HC Todd Monken nails it in regards to P5 potentially splitting.
The P5 teams that go 6-6/7-5 (or less) just about every year can't afford NOT to play these "non-P5" teams.........they need those "wins" so they won't have to fire their coaches for going 5-7/4-8 or less.....it's a direct shot at teams like Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vandy, Iowa State, Northwestern, Boston College, Wake Forrest, Indiana, Purdue, Washington State, Colorado, Duke............these are the teams that will fight NOT to break away.

All this is nothing more than the P5 trying to force the G5 to vote for "full cost of tuition". That is what this issue is about...
But his quote is terrible...sounds like somebody stole his Big Wheel.

The only people who can stop this are the very people that are propagating this hoarding of the pie. The Presidents and ADs of these P5 schools.
I appreciate Coach Monken's sentiment, but I think it's better placed at these ADs and University Presidents.
No, it us AD's and Presidents looking for cash and power.
The same guys who will fire a head coach with only 9 wins after taking all the cream puffs out of their schedule.

Not really. The Sun Belt already voted for it.

What I think would happen, though, is that the P5 would just schedule a few more FCS-type teams. So a typical P5 schedule would be 8 conference games, maybe 1 "major" OOC game like Georgia/Georgia Tech or Florida/FSU, and then 3 FCS opponents. Those games would serve the purpose of allowing the players an easy win in a scrimmage-like atmosphere plus a chance for fans who can't afford tickets to Auburn/Alabama see a game between Auburn/UT-Chattanooga.
Because they would sell fewer tickets and make less money. Also those games would be far less watched than a game against the G5. IOW they would lose money.
The more you think about it the more the P5 Needs a group of "second class citizens" so they can keep those eight home games and make the scratch from it..
