A JMU/CAA Knife In The Back?
The other half of the Charlotte cancellation was JMU's accommodability. The JMU admin had to know what position this would put us in. Same with Yeager, who I'm almost certain supported this. If I'm Wood, I don't think I'd forget about this when/if expansion gets back on the table.

Yeah, I thought about this as well. It certainly possible JMU initiated this.

Who cares? Let JMU have the game. Coach will need the win to keep his job.

Let Charlotte and JMU play the JV game while we play a guarantee game at a SEC/Big 12 school AND host Georgia Southern.

I don't disagree that they're better off playing each other. But it puts us in a financial bind. And JMU knew that. Yet they'll possibly be asking for our support in getting a conference invite down the road??? If I'm the AD, that door just slammed shut!

We'll absorb the financial hit. After all, we have 4 funded basketball scholarships that we aren't filling. 05-stirthepot

how does anyone know, at this point, that this whole thing isn't all by design? it makes a lot more sense than all these schools backstabbing each other.

This move is SO W Selig (and that's not a knock BTW). I don't believe that Bruce Stewart/Bobby Wilder and company has yet to give any reason to doubt they can fill an excellent schedule.

I'm with you, there's already something in motion.

This doesn't solve the missing 2013 home date.

its not Alabama, but a much better opponent than Charlotte would have been and the kinds of teams we should be playing right now.

This allows for a fast 2014 start with Hampton also at home and a road game at NC State. The open date could be any power conference guarantee game to round out the 4 non con games.

Harrisonburg paper, 7-24 puts CUSA officials on JMU's campus "recently." Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part but maybe this has something to do with the Charlotte games?

Personally, I would have recommended this as an option to Charlotte immediately once we decided to pull out in 14. I really like this match up and its a really good measuring stick for Charlotte. In fact, IF I didn't have better things to do that weekend (cough, cough) I'd probably try to grab a couple of tickets.

Who do ya pull for in this one? The "conference mate" or the old bitter deflated rival?

If I'm betting I'd have to put my money on JMU by at least a TD.

All this confirms to me is we most likely have zero interest in pushing for them to enter cusa.

They made their bed, let them lie in it.

And Charlotte will get dispatched on the field just like jmu did, only much much worse, in 2015.

JMU doesn't owe us anything. I could care less if they want to rummage through our trash can. As for Charlotte, they've got their's coming. They better be ready for a $700,000 a$$ whooping when we finally do play.

Wood would love to see JMU in CUSA, he's said as much. I heard it with my own ears... recently.

"I'm also told the Dukes did not initiate request for game. 49ers contacted JMU with request after cancelling on ODU."

per local TV reporter twitter feed.
