Some of you may have seen this story in the Chronicle about the student that was hit and killed by a Metro train yesterday. Turns out she was a Rice student. This occured about 2 blocks from where I work in downtown.

As a parent...I couldn't imagine....so sad

There are near misses of this nature almost every day at the stop down by HCC. It's not the safest layout, but given the space constraints it's the only one that works.

This is the second time in two years that someone from Rice has been killed while trying to cross Main Street.
