...The move by the Liberty to match teams from two major conferences was something Ehrhart felt was necessary to survive in college football’s changing landscape. It was a tough decision, because one of the biggest reasons that the bowl always had a contract with Conference USA/AAC is Ehrhart hoped the University of Memphis would qualify for the Liberty.

“I remain hopeful the AAC can be involved in our bowl arrangement in case we don’t have a qualifying team from the SEC or the Big 12,” Ehrhart said.

Ehrhart and executive associate director Harold Graeter have lobbied the SEC to keep the Liberty in its bowl mix....

Not sure if its been changed but in the original article he said the AAC was formerly Conference USA. Talk about adding insult to injury.

It just shows that Steve was for CUSA because of US and nothing else. Too bad we didn't do our part and qualify for the game.

Sure, thanks University of Memphis for keeping the Liberty Bowl stadium open by your paying the way - and oh, BTW, stand-by so if we need you, you can be there to bale us out if we don't get teams qualified from conferences we prefer. What an insult!

Yeah, I won't be supporting anything Liberty Bowl related until / unless the AAC gets tied back in...... or we join the Big12, lol.
