Charlie Weiss Recruiting
How's this for a pitch to recruits?

Quote:I said, ‘Have you looked at that pile of crap out there? Have you taken a look at that?’ So if you don’t think you can play here, where do you think you can play?

That's what Charlie Weiss is telling kids he wants - our team is SO BAD that you will play immediately. He just better hope he doesn't have to count on one of those current players this season...

RE: Charlie Weiss Recruiting
He certainly doesn't mince words. I believe that was taken in context of talking to prospects who were concerned about reviewing the current depth chart, and him making the point that it reflects a lack of confidence in their abilities if they're asking that about KU. (That question is a whole other matter if you're talking to Nick Saban.)

He's already done a lot of house cleaning, and I think that he's definitely set a very blunt tone with the players who are here now. I don't think they'd be particularly shocked by that comment, because I'm sure he's said harsher things behind closed doors.

It does remind me of that early scene from The Junction Boys where Bryant is watching film: "Where the hell did they get these turds??" 04-cheers

I've never quite understood the Charlie Weis phenomenon. Once upon a time, his claim to fame was that he mentored and developed Tom Brady. Knowing what we now know, does that seem likely to anyone?

I think the man is/was/has always been VASTLY overrated.

Well, there's also Brady Quinn. Given that "Brady" isn't that common of a name, I feel fairly confident in saying that Mr. Weis has had something to do with every good (at any level) QB that I have ever seen named "Brady" (first name or last). That's gotta count for something. Honestly, name ANYONE else on the planet Earth who is better suited to develop an aspiring young QB recruit named "Brady."
