This is absolutely awesome to hear:

Quote:Is the quarterback job Brendon Kay's to lose at training camp?

Yes, because he had a very good spring and I thought that Munchie (Legaux) hit the wall in about the 10th or 11th practice. The guy that really played well and made a lot of headway was Bennie Coney.

I love how Tubbs doesn't use coach speak and clichés.

Hoping Coney wins the backup spot.

It is very weird hearing any coach be that upfront about those types of things. Like that a whole lot.

From the sounds of it seems like he has cemented the position... heck, this article makes it sound as if Kay struggles and/or Coney continues to progress #10 could become the starter.

Let me preface this by saying that I am the first guy who strongly believes you need two starting caliber QB's on your team in order to ensure a successful season. That being said, next year is shaping up to be one interesting situation with Coney and Kiel. I hope one of them don't pout and quit if he don't win the job.

Anyways....next year is next year. We'll worry about that then. Tubs has me excited. No lousy coachspeak and corny slogans. I am ready for THIS season to start!!!!!!!!!

After redshirting last year and transfering, he'll be eligible as a RS sophomore and have 3 years left.

At UC, he will have three. At Notre Dame, he would have had nine, although he could petition for a 10th based on a hanging toenail during his 6th season.
