RE: Isaac Hamilton wants out of UTEP?
I believe the 4 team play in round is considered the first round. The round with 32 games is technically the second round. Knowing fitbud...

RE: Isaac Hamilton wants out of UTEP?
let me add to this that enemasU has only been to post season tournaments because of winning a lesser conference tournament over the past 10 years. In addition UTEP has received 2 at large bids to the aggies zero. UTEP has also played in the NIT tournament twice to the aggies zero. That is on top of the 70% winning percentage UTEP has had over the aggies over the past 10 years.

The aggies have been to the second round twice, but not because they won a game, but rather because the play in games are now considered the first round. The last aggie ncaa tournament victory was in 1993.

So fit, tell us again how the aggies have been more successful?

Speaking of Isaac, he is no longer on the UTEP roster.

Does this mean Floyd let him out of his LOI? I hope not.

Anyways, I see fit didn't grace this thread with a comment on his last visit to this board. So much for him admitting when he's wrong.

anyways, over the past 10 years, even though, your faggies have played in a lesser conference, they have qualified for the same amount of tournaments as UTEP. UTEP owns you, chica... Move along gaggie.

Incorrect. Over the passed few years, NMSU has qualified for more NCAA tournaments.

I believe it's been 5 since Reggie Theus was coach including 2 second rounds.

UTEP in the same amount of time has gone 3 times.

Nmsu Ncaa history

UTEP Ncaa history

Thank you for the information. I hope that clears things up.

Don't forget also that NMSU also made the torunament in 2013

Do we have to spell it out for you everytime?

You stated 2 second rounds in the past few years. Please tell me when.

How many bids did nmsu's conference get during that span? Did UTEP win head to head during that span? What were the conference RPIs or rankings for both conferences during that span? Did nmsu play in the same conference as teams on the same level as Memphis? UTEP in the WAC would be like if DUKE were in MAAC.

I think it is obvious who is the real homer. Did you get your nmsu season tickets in the mail yet?

NMSU got a bye in the last two NCAA tournament appearances. Therefore, they were automatically into the second round.

All that other stuff you mention is apples and oranges.

The bottom line is that the Aggies have had more tournament appearances in this century than the Miners.

I'm sorry if cannot accept those facts.

Just because I can doesn't make me any less of a Miner fan.

I agree its apples and oranges that is why I brought it up. The paths to get tourney bids are not the same and therefore to suggest superiority when UTEP leads head to head is not logical. You pick and choose half-truths to try and make points when your argument is not sound. By the way, the 1st round bye thing is complete bs. NOBODY perceives that round as the 'second round'. Go ahead and argue that is the official name, it doesn't matter. All that matters is they lost the 1st game they played.

RE: Isaac Hamilton wants out of UTEP?
I guess it all depends on how you measure success. If you are the type of UTEP fan that is content with beating the Aggies every year, then you would be correct.

However, it has been my experience that most fans measure success on whether or not their team makes the tournament.

If that is the bar that is set, then the Aggies over the passed 10 or 15 years have been more successful.

As for the first round second round thing. I don't care what you call it. The point was the the Aggies have had more tournament appearances than UTEP over the last 10 years. Arguing that point IMHO is just nit picking.

RE: Isaac Hamilton wants out of UTEP?
I evalute success with multiple factors and variables. One is the nmsu games and another is ncaa tourney invites. There are several others which are not necessary to list as they will further distract from the point of this conversation. You made claims about nmsu's success in contrast to UTEP's. I do not have to buy into your embellishment and skewed perception. You can deflect, distract and ignore all you like but I do not particularly care for the self righteousness.

LMAO at fitdumb grasping for straws... I guess that makes Liberty with a losing record of 15-21 and 6-10 in the big south conference a successful season!!!

Fit, your gaggies will be tremendously successful for years to come in the WAC. not one school (besides enemasU) in the new wac had a winning record last year. They combined for a record of 83-136... 23% of their wins came against non-d1 opponents

RE: Isaac Hamilton wants out of UTEP?
My guess is that in anticipation of UTEP not making the tournament any time soon, it has been decided that this will no longer be a sign of a good season.

FYI. NCAA has a play in game which is now considered the 1st round of the tournament.

Given that fact, the Aggies have advanced to the second round the last two times in the tournament.

Fitbud, your reading comprehension is severely lacking. And why must you always argue in circles?

Yes, the sports world voted and ncaa bids will no longer be allowed to be used as a measurement of perceived success. It will be a sliding scale which always favors UTEP since their recent and future performance requires such a handicap.

So RUN cannot question your understanding of .500 but you can grasp for straws on the second round technicality? THEY GOT A BID AS THE WAC IS A WEAKER CONFERENCE THAN CUSA. NMSU LOST THEIR 1ST GAME PLAYED IN THE NCAA TOURNEY EACH TIME DURING THE SPAN YOU REFERENCED.

Do you intentionally troll or are you just so thick that your hypocrisy is not evident?

That is brand new information that has not already been covered in this very thread. No, really. Oh, wait.

Are you talking baseball again? Cuz for basketball, it doesn't make any sense.... But then again; since when do your anti-UTEP point make sense anyway.

RE: Isaac Hamilton wants out of UTEP?
I'm talking about a time when UTEP basketball was at a level that making the tournament meant that we had a good season.

It's wasn't whether or not we beat the Aggies.

At the height of UTEP basketball, both the Aggies and UTEP went to the sweet sixteen.

Now we have fans that settle for simply beating the Aggies and don't even consider whether or not we make the tournament.

Something is wrong when we praise a coach who hasn't gotten us to the big dance in the three years that he has been here even when he inherited a championship team.

Quit trying to put words in peoples mouths, nobody said we had a good season. You claimed that your enemasU gaggies have been more successful than UTEP over the last several years, and like always, you were proven wrong. Fit, try to keep up with your own arguments.

Fit, for someone who claims to "embrace debate", you sure do suck. As Randaddy pointed out, you can't even keep track of what others said let alone yourself. It is pointless to argue with someone that cannot admit when they are wrong and is unable to properly understand what other people say. There were numerous points made throughout this thread yet your argument continues to twist and turn. BTW, if you say the same thing more than once, it does not make it anymore truthful.

Answer me this: If UTEP were to lose more games than win this year (< .500) and they somehow won the conference tourney, would that be a successful season?

First of all, I wasn't wrong.

What is wrong is the way you interpreted what I said.

What I said is a fact.

As for UTEP. If they make the dance, that is a success. It may not be ideal but it is still better than not going.

Now answer my question.

If UTEP doesn't win the championship but goes to the big dance, are you going to be happy?

Sure guy, embellishment and perception are facts. I understand now, thank you for enlightening me with your wisdom.

Answer: Yes, my happiness isn't dependant on UTEP's post-season bid. I would hope that nmsu's doesn't make or break yours. Just like my perception of success, happiness is dynamic and has many variables. You try to simplify everything and state opinion as law. Life doesn't work that way scrote.
