Do not see where the current players have legal standing to join the case.

Their likenesses are being used and they signed the same form that is in dispute.

Likeness...The players look nothing like them...Height and skillset may be similar though...But cmon.

I wonder how much NBA players get whose actual faces and names are used.

NBAPA handles the contract between 2k and the players I believe. Same with the NFL, NHL, and MLB. How they distribute that or if they just use it to fund pensions is beyond me.

Change and disruption is healthy. This will be fascinating to watch.

Good for them. A mountain of gold is being made on their backs.

If I had to guess what will happen, here are my top 2.

1. Players get nothing and there are no licensed NCAA games.
2. There is a fund set up for players to help them out with medical costs from lingering injuries after their eligibility is used up

I can't see the players getting any money from this. First, it would cause too many problems for the NCAA. Second; if tuition averages 30k per year, each school is already handing out close to $3 million per year (97 X 30K) each year. 120K does have a very real value.

they should get paid, but have to pay their own way - that will learn them.

That is why the system kind of works and there haven't been more challenges. The elite recruits may deserve more, but the school is "paying" the recruits at the end of the bench 40k per year. What would be more fair is to increase the stipend, but if that goes through, the cheating will probably increase 800%.

I think the system will work fine if they do 2 things, 1) give players a share of the merchandising they individually generate (this will distinguish between true earners and the riffraff) and 2) make money management required to have the scholly. For most schools, there are far more players the school loses money on by giving them scholarships and paying for health insurance, and they don't see that money back.
