Rolling Stone is stirring up controversy with its new cover.

The August issue of the music magazine features a photo of Boston Marathon bombings suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover.

The magazine did a feature story on Tsarnaev with a headline of “The Bomber.”

According to Rolling Stone, the story, written by contributing editor Janet Reitman, delivers “a riveting and heartbreaking account of how a charming kid with a bright future became a monster.”

Rolling Stone put out the cover on its Facebook page and it has already received thousands of negative comments.

A separate Facebook page was created overnight – Boycott Rolling Stone Magazine For Their Latest Cover.


I always thought Rolling Stone was a music magazine, wtf are they doing? Glamorizing terrorists and possibility inspiring other psychopaths to think they can become famous and be on the cover of popular magazines?

This thread is meant to bring public awareness to this idiocy of Rolling Stone. Many stores and retailers are boycotting the magazine and won't be putting the issue on their shelves. I hope many other's do the same, and with enough pressure maybe the magazine will pull the cover. This is plain outrageous and despicable.

I remember Newsweek magazine got a lot of grief about 15 years ago for putting a very "normal", wholesome-appearing portrait of Timothy McVeigh on the cover.

So far, I've heard Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens won't be putting the magazine out on their racks for sale.. and I'm guessing there are a few others that are not putting it on the shelves.
