Tuition increase
Random question. May or may not have anything to do with football and may have already been discussed, but did anyone else not the tuition increase for next year?

Undergraduate has gone up $12 a credit for instate ($273 to $285), $38 a credit for out of state ($769 to $807).. up $19 for graduate in state ($393 to $412), up $51 for graduate out of state ($997 to $1048)

This isn't the biggest increase in tuition since I've been here, but it's up there. Would this have anything to do with the move up?

RE: Tuition increase
For the 2013-2014 school year:
UVAs tuition is going up 3.8 %
VT will be up 4.9%
VCU claims a 4.2% increase but could end up being as high 21% for some students (http://www.baconsrebellion.com/2013/05/t...story.html)
Mason is up 3.0%
JMU is up 4.0%

I'd say its just become the standard in higher education to raise tuition on an seemingly annual basis. You gotta keep up in the arms race to have the best campus you can. The sad part is how much the tuition increases have outpaced inflation over the last decade.

Yeah I suppose you're right. Hard to see it that way when you have to pay it. haha A lot has changed on campus since I've been here though and I've only been here since fall 09, so I could agree with that.

I suspect that you are on the same plan that both of my daughters were on -- the "change-your-major" five year plan.

Would have to look specifically at the athletics fee (or activity fee - whatever it's called) and see whether or not that actually increased.

It did increase, even the athletics portion (I did a breakdown in a previous post)

RE: Tuition increase
Interesting.

Student fee for athletics per credit hour for instate undergraduate: 12.5% increase
Tuition for instate undergrad: 4.4% increase

So it doesn't appear that the athletics fee rose proportionately.
