I doubt it just last season's records. Probably based more on the ranking predictions you see in all of the preseason football magazines. It's not science if that's what you're looking for. As another poster in this thread said, it's the same as the preseason top 25. And I think we all agree there's a reason behind ranking Alabama over Marshall.

You are right. Steele does make subjective adjustments.

Although it seems pretty fair.

Kent State and LSU both lost 3 games last year. Which is tougher?
