There were only 44,000 people at the American Idol game? Dang, traffic was so backed up we didn't get there until half time. Based on that, I guess I'd hate to see a sellout.
turnstile count was 47,000+ if i remember right

A lot of UAB fans, like the B'ham Police, were "blindsided" by that turnout and followed our usual pattern of arriving just before kickoff or just in time for tailgate. The same thing happened with the recent Ole Miss crowd at the bowl game so that many were still in traffic on I-65 North, at kickoff. B'ham needs to study some of the lessons learned the hard way back when Bama played to SRO crowds back in the old days. ONE WAY major streets before and after the game and shuttle buses that ran regular downtown and southside routes using 6th Ave north as dedicated routes (For only public transportation) to move people to and from Legion Field. Updated shuttle routes from the newer mass parking facilities in the metro area would help a lot, but requires advanced planning and public notice of choices.
