From the files of Today in Blazer History, a look at this seasons bb schedule
1. We have played Columbus State University before!!!!
Columbus State was called Columbus College until 1996. UAB played them on December 14, 1982 and won 56-42.

2. November 8 is the earliest a regular season game has ever been played, beating last year's record of 11/10 against Young Harris. I wonder when we play our first pre-Halloween game.

3. All time records
Columbus State - 1-0
Rutgers 0-1
Troy 6-0
Florida A&M 5-0
North Carolina - 0-3
Northeastern 1-0
Georgia Southern 6-1
Chattanooga 9-2
LSU 1-1
Alabama A&M 8-0
Newberry - never played

Record against opponents (minus tournament) 39-8

(Charleston tournament possible opponents)
Clemson 2-1
Davidson - never played
Georgia - 1-3
Nebraska - 2-2
New Mexico - Never played
Temple - 1-2
UMass - 1-0

4. Any idea who our first game in the Charleston tournament will be?

5. Newberry College has 1014 students and is a Lutheran affilliated school in South Carolina.

One more observation:

Huge Thanksgiving weekend!
Thursday - Turkey day
Friday - Black Friday
Saturday - last football game of the year vs. Southern Miss
Sunday - basketball vs. North Carolina

Hopefully football will still be relevant by the last game.

2012-13 records of our D1 opponents:
Rutgers 15-16
Troy - 12-21
Florida A&M - 8-23
North Carolina - 25-11
Northeastern - 20-13
Georgia Southern - 14-19
Chattanooga - 13-19
LSU - 19-12
Alabama A&M - 11-20

So, three teams with winning seasons and after that, pretty bad

Nice guy and the inventor of the modern brand of dirty politics.

He shares a surname with a guy who made on of the biggest plays in UAB football history.

He also played with Joe Cribbs, the new concept carwash guy & former UAB assistant coach.
