ODU's athletic program ranked 101st nationally

In spite of an uncharacteristically down season in men’s basketball, Old Dominion fared well in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup competition for 2012-2013, finishing 101st nationally out of 340 Division I schools.

ODU was first among Colonial Athletic Association schools and second among the 16 schools in its new home, Conference USA. ODU joined Conference USA on July 1.

No. 54 Tulsa was the only the only current C-USA school to finish ahead of the Monarchs.

Not at all surprised by our ranking when we don't even have a team for 5 of the sports listed.

FCS Marist College is ranked just ahead of us.

I don't see football or basketball on the list, although they say it counts in their other literature.

Somebody look deeper into this and tell me how you see this ranking system.

That's probably how much each sport should be weighted as far as actual importance.
