At one time peach baskets were good too and no 3 point line were good too. It amazes me how many people ***** about the style of play in the Big Ten, but then when something like this comes up it's oh hell no you can't.

The one rule I'd really like to see instituted is limiting the number of timeouts used in the last 2 minutes of a game. Nothing is more frustrating to me then having to take a 30 second to 1 minute break after every make or miss in the last 2 minutes.

Has anyone ever noticed that they love to mess with the rules for college basketball making somewhat major changes, yet they don't make too many major changes to college football?

I think the expanded personal foul penalties (roughing the passer, horse collar tackles, etc) and kick off changes are major. I mean they haven't changed to number of downs or quarters recently or anything.

However, none of those in my opinion impact the game to the level that the changes to basketball have an impact.

I like 35. 24 is all about offense, whereas 35 forces teams to play defense for a longer period of time.

Oh, if it changes to 24 we would all adjust and get used to it, but that doesn't mean we have to like it (like the blankety-blank DH in the American League!).

With a 24-second clock, Vaden would have been 0-27 instead of 0-17. No thanks.

How about cleaning up rough play and calling the game the way is should be called and being consistent?

An effort to "clean up rough play" would result in 40-50 free throws being shot and will kill the pace of the game. Also, calling more fouls result in more flopping. Players tend to prefer the "let them play" style of basketball. I hate it when they call every little touch foul.

I agree that they should be consistent calling it the same way on both teams and don't change what you call during the game, but as long as it doesn't become overly physical, let them play.

The rule changes on placement of ball on kickoffs has had a pretty big effect.

The biggest rule change in college football, although it has been several years was the overtime rule. I have always hated that rule so much. It's like we play college football for four quarters and if there is a tie, we play some other game with other rules. I'd rather go back to ties.

I hated the NFL's sudden death rule, too. And I hate soccer/hockey matches that are decided by penalty shots. Overtime is a tricky thing to get right in many sports.

Did you read the article?

It amazes me how many people ***** about people bitching and extrapolate a simple comment into a ***** about bitching of some ridiculous nature.

Bitching about peach baskets? No. Bitching about a 24 second shot clock? Yes. It would harm the game. Not a *****, an opinion, and one I believe most college basketball fans share.

I love the college football overtime format. High schools have done that for time out of mind. Even the NFL has sudden death (which I hate). Ties suck, and I don't miss them at all.

I like the idea that a game is decided in OT by the same rules that were played by in regulation. The college rule is akin to overtime in basketball being decided by a dunk contest. Just keep playing the same game that got you to overtime.

No, it isn't.

If you're looking for some equivalence, I'd say it's more like letting teams inbound it at midcourt.

The rules still apply. 10 yards is a 1st down. Cross the goal line is 6 points.

It skews the stats. When there is a shorter field, there is increased scoring and suddenly a QB has 6 TD passes, when he may have had one or two in the regulation. The change in OT rules was the beginning of my falling out of love with football
