Has Silve/the SEC said anything about the Birmingham Bowl?
Many of us saw this article a while ago:
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/...ingha.html
Quote:"Every indication we're getting from the conference is that they want to be in Birmingham," Magnus said. "It's important relative to being the home of the conference office. I think they respect what we do at the lower level of the food chain, where there's been some sketchier situations with bowl-game operators. We run quality events, we pay our bills and it's a good environment at that level."

That's from ESPN Regional, though.

You could read that as meaning "The SEC didn't tell us no." and not much more. If the SEC said "We'll get back to you", what's ESPN-RT supposed to say, "this bowl is toast"?

Is there anything else on whether the SEC is keeping Birmingham? I know we hear "Oh the SEC wants to keep good relations with Birmingham, SEC headquarters..." but if Alabama and Auburn can dump the Iron Bowl in Birmingham because LEgion Field is a dump, I don't see why the SEC can't say "Sorry Birmingham, your stadium sucks so you share picks with the Independence Bowl."
