RE: TROJAN BEAT - Crystal Ball: UAB
UAB's defense will be deeper, bigger, and more experienced than last year.

UAB's offense scored the second most points in school history last year, with a new coach, new system, and one returning starter on the offensive line.

I'll take my chances with my All-Conference running back against your 4-2-5.

Because our defensive coordinator is in year 2, and we are also loaded at the skill positions, I like my chances in a shootout.

I agree, but if dyer is playing in this game. It will be a long day for the opposing team.

There's still plenty of time for him to get arrested at least once between then and now.

Who is Darrin Reeves?

Good luck with that.

My crystal ball says UAB 49, Troy 17. I do expect us to be that much better.

Now hold on for just one minute. Wayne Bolt is now running the 4-2-5. We scrapped that defense even though we were nationally ranked for his pathetic version of the 4-3 defense. We haven't been sound defensive every since he stepped foot on campus. And now he is running a defense that we were very good in? I guess my question is why didn't he just continued in the path that we were on back in the day? I guess that it all spilt milk. But sheesh.

A lot of Bolts issues at UAB were health related. He was just too damn fat to do his job properly because he refused to ride a cart. There were times he had to leave before the end of the half to make it to the locker room for half time and times he was too exhausted by the walk to make half time adjustments. Now that he has lost all the weight the health related issues that affected his game day coaching at UAB are gone.

How instrumental was Bolt in the departure of Woodrow Lowe who coached linebackers when he arrived, was subsequently "demoted" to Special teams coach before leaving the program. He is now FBHC at Central High of Phenix City and his two top players last year did not give UAB recruiters the time of day.

No matter how you slice it, our success this year will be dictated by this and pretty much this alone. Any success on the defensive side, we will win the games we should (such as Troy) and we go bowling.
