Tour of the Cincinnati campus
For those of you in the American Athletic Conference not familiar with the Cincinnati campus (many may soon become) Forbes Magazine rated our campus one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Now that maybe somewhat of a stretch, but I think our campus is quite nice for an urban university. Take note of the link and click on different pictures to obtain slideshows of various buildings and athletic facilities on campus. Our eastern campus is the medical facility. I have also included the universities main website and the athletic website. Also, at the university website, click on the research tab. You may find out some interesting facts about Cincinnati research. Enjoy.

Very COOL! The campus has come such a long way. The addition of football suites, tied into the TUC, will really add to the whole campus experience.

Nice pics. You are not going to like me for saying this, but I visited your campus once and it seemed very crowded and congested. Also, the area of the city I drove through getting to the campus was on of the worst I have ever been in...hope that has been improved.

RE: Tour of the Cincinnati campus
There has been a lot of work done to the CUF area (the area immediately surrounding the campus), and the Over-the-Rhine areas of Cincinnati in the past few years that has greatly increased safety, appearance, and functionality. That being said, due to the rise of property values, the coinciding gentrification of those areas has caused a steep decline in some areas west of downtown. Depending on how long its been since you've visited, you will be blown away with the difference to the whole city.

I don't think one of the top ten most beautiful campuses in the country is a stretch. http://www.forbes.com/pictures/ekkf45i/u...nati-ohio/

Delta Sky magazine had UC as one of the World's top Ten most inspiring campuses. http://deltaskymag.delta.com/Inspiration...puses.aspx

Travel and Leisure had UC among the country's most beautiful campuses. http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles...campuses/6

I'm probably missing some, but pretty great that UC is recognized globally for its campus.

Yes, good points and very crowded place. 43,000 in place built in 1819 is tough. The surrounding areas of campus have improved dramatically, but there is still a problem with crime in many surrounding communities including Clifton Heights and the Corryville areas. Crime is also a problem at Ohio State and many other college campuses. More police patrols including joint patrols with the Cincy Police and UC police have helped.

Looks great, i'm a big fan of urban campuses. Anything new lately from the head honcho Santa Ono? The things I've seen and read about him he seems like a good guy and great leader. I'm not that close to UC but from what I've seen about him and his background i think hes a great asset to UC.

RE: Tour of the Cincinnati campus
So......

I like Cincinnati... Campus is 'cool'. A good mix of modern and old architecture...

But...

It really has nothing on SMU... I have yet to go to a campus that greatly outmatches SMU. This is like the 100th thread congratulating yourselves on your campus :) ... Maybe y'all need a tutorial on campus beauty. I will list the ones I have been to:

baylor - not bad, some good and some bad... the details are greatly glossed over, making it feel too production

rice - very very beautiful, close to equal in beauty as SMU... More care of the grounds and it could be better

UH - really unnattractive, but with some of the new stuff, it is getting better... will be awhile though...

Texas - Some really awesome areas.. not enough distinction between campus and city (which some may like) but some buildings feel too office like

Texas A&M - there is the main quad which is nice. the rest is cheap concrete buildings painted tan... pretty ugly

Texas Tech - best public school campus in texas... Bad enviroment for plants.

TCU - not bad. some cool buildings, but not much cohesiveness. campus feels disjointed.

Nebraska - Some of the buildings were cool, but overall... this campus was really dissapointing

UCF - not a fan of this campus

USF - Also not a fan of this campus at all

Texas State - pretty surrounding area. the new buildings look very nice. A long way to go, but has the advantage of the area.

UNT - They have some surprisingly nice parts. Also can use a good amount of money to beautify.

Louisville - Some areas are really cool and unexpected. The dome is awesome, and the surrounding area. I do feel like some of the newer stuff from 60s-90s are not up to snuff and take away from the good parts

Tennessee - the Hill or whatever they call the main quad is cool. the rest is trash... The stadium / river is pretty cool though.

KU - I liked it. It feels like a quality campus, not without its ugly buildings however.

OU - Similar to KU actually, I liked it overall. The architecture was unique and refreshing... being in norman and all. I do think its a pretty campus.

I think it just goes into personal preference, if you like the eclectic, urban, modernistic environment that Cincinnati offers, you probably won't appreciate the open, green, historical beauty of an SMU, UNC, UVA and so forth. I tend to appreciate just about everything, and I'm really looking forward to getting to SMU in the next few years for a tailgate (I hear they are awesome) and football game should we be lucky enough to have you guys on our schedule.

You smu guys need to realize that UC is not a traditional college campus. UC is an urban campus and a good one at that. Those interested in a traditional college campus, ie campus spread out over a large area with numerous green spaces, you will probably not appreciate our campus. Many national publications and those in the architecture field have lauded UC as one of the finest campuses in the country. The great thing is UC's not finished. Nippert will be remodeled after this fball season. The surrounding neighborhoods continue to be remade into a better environment. Great time to be a Bearcat!

Cheers 04-cheers

I am an architect snob in many ways. I love looking at different campuses and feeling their vibe. No doubt that Cincinnati has a good one.

One of the greatest assets for Cincinnati is the beautiful hillsides throughout the city. Sure it can be a pain in winter but like San Francisco it looks stunning with buildings on the banks of the Ohio and rising up the hillsides from there. Stadiums look spectacular at night reflecting on the river. Even Northern Kentucky has grown by leaps and bounds.
