While I don't think we'll hear an announcement soon, we'll find out a lot about what is or isn't happening.
The NCAA payout is no longer an excuse to keep quiet. That's at least one thing we can exclude.

Not gonna be brutal for me. I have low to zero expectations.

If I were up to me though, JMU would announce on August 31, the day of the central Connecticut game. It would add an element of excitement to the otherwise boring game, it would dovetail nicely into a huge Akron game based fundraiser and group road trip and it would boost the St. Francis game a week later for those who couldn't go to Akron. Basically it would create a great fundraising/donating opportunity for every single home game.

Lots of things can be brutal for people: losing their job, going through a divorce, losing a loved one, suffering a debilitating disease or injury, themselves or a loved one being the victim of a serious crime, serving in combat in the military, and on and on.

But if this "brutal" for anyone, they need to get a life....

Can it really get any worse?

You didn't hear? Liberty and Norfolk State are both moving to FBS conferences, and George Mason decided to start a football program. The ACC has offered Mason an invite beginning in 2017 to replace Maryland in the DC market.

I have been told that an announcement might not come until next April when the full University plan is being released by Mr. Alger. There are still top administrators who believe FCS and the CAA is the best place for our athletics program.

I use to love talking about conference expansion. Now I am getting completely bored with the subject. I thought JMU had a vision for athletics and FBS. Now, I am not convinced that is the case anymore.

I'm not a negative person & I've tried my best not to get involved in the constant bashing. That said, I'm simultaneously dumbfounded & not surprised by Nation's comments above. How can anyone look around at the new CAA & think, "Yeah, this is the best fit"?

Following JMU athletics throws you for so many curves, I don't know how we all manage to keep from suffering whiplash. Does anyone really feel they know the "vision" we are pursuing anymore? As Hyper phrased it, just dumbfounding.

+1000 - those of you that are angered by my post, great news, I'm so tired of the lack of ambition shown by this admin I'm out. I have better things to do than spend time on this board. I'll monitor the situation going forward.

My grad school's monetary contributions just grew at the expense of JMU athletics to spite the admin...call me whatever you like, I'll likely not see your posts for a few weeks.

JMU's collective PR skills needs some work to get to the level of incompetence.

WHy would it make sense to make public the FBS aspirations months after the study is due (Sept.)

Time to break out the old email barrage to JB and Alger. It's annoying but I sometimes get good responses and atleast they know that this is hot issue for JMU alums.

RE: Next 335 days will be brutal for some
I surely hope Nation is wrong about the timetable. That would be another wasted year. My enthusiasm for opening game has gotten stronger each year for the past 10- until this year. With all that's gone on in the last 15 months and more importantly not gone on, I just don't have the level of enthusiasm I once did. I was always one who rallied the troops and kept people informed on our successes, progress and improvements. Now, despite my passion and efforts, I feel like I'm still at the kid's table while all my friends & siblings are eating with the adults.
