I know some of you guys have been wanting a new look for ODUsports.com.

Well, ODU's athletic's page has given us a 'sneak peek' at what the site will look like a week from now. What do you guys think?

I think it looks pretty good. Not sure if I like the flare on the ODU logo, but overall it looks cleaner.

So much better! Also like that they went with the water background.

I like the water background too.
But, I have to ask.... you been shopping for Speedos?

Big improvement. That is what an athletics site should look like.

I like the look of the site now. The old one looked tired. This looks fresh, and it is certainly comparable to the athletics websites of our conference-mates in C-USA. I wonder if that "Fan Zone" tab will link to a forum. If so, will it be monarch nation? I'd prefer here. Much more of a level-headed ensemble we've got here.

Ha, that question needs to be redirected to Ben Waring who tweeted that out. He should erase his cookies next time!

Is the NEW LOOK for ODUsports.com to parallel with the July 1 Launch, when we join CUSA?

I don't like the logo flare and font (it matches nothing) of "Old Dominion Athletics". Otherwise it pretty much looks like any other current CBS school site and is better than the pre-football layout we had.

I think we should have a live background, I think a packed SB Ballard Stadium would look nice (VT) or Monarch fans and mascot cheering (UNC) or maybe some graphic art (Alabama) or a background of our NCAA trophies (UCLA Bruins) or photos of athletes (Syracuse, Arizona) or....

I'm with you, the water background seems a little cheesey and out of place to me, I mean it looks like it should be the sailing teams home page.

Agreed. It is out of place. Visitors to the site will get confused.

86 the water. Use the background to promote a sports theme. If you're going to use water, make it a Swimming, Rowing or Sailing theme.

Or make it a regional theme with Downtown Norfolk on one side and Town Center or the Oceanfront on the other. For example, UAB has the Birmingham skyline as their background.

The water looks fine to me. It fits ODU's recruiting philosophy... "Psst, We're 'near' the beach"

Flare - bad
Old Dominion Athletics font - bad
Water background - Confusing, unless our marquee program was sailing or rowing

Does anyone else take issue to how LARGE other teams' logos are on our home page? Not saying they shouldn't be there, but they're so large, you'd think it was a conference website, not an individual school's.. And I think the schedule section overall could be smaller. (Especially in the "off" seasons, it might be kind of light there and may have 8 sailing events displayed or something..)

I think the Monarch Media section is still poorly organized and in need of an overhaul. The site overall looks cleaner, but that particular section is kind of busy for my taste.

Overall, I think it's better, but could use some tweaks. Hopefully they take some of our suggestions.

In a similar vein, any further news on the new basketball court design? I know several posters said they emailed Wood and he responded "the designs are not final".

I like this idea a lot. Rotating background image of different athletes. Each month the rotation changes.

Speaking of the water background, was that a shot of campus during Isabel?

I just looked and of all the cusa teams their logos are all about 150-160x100-150px in size. MT's is pretty big though.

I think the new odusports.com page looks great. If by flare you mean the crown logo having been "metalized" I have no problem with that. As far as the water as a background, at least it is water in school colors and matches the color scheme. Overall it is much more professional looking and pleasing to the eye.

Looks good to me.. I guess you can't please everybody.
