He never said he hated him.

I based my 'hate him' comment on:

Yeah he came off like a ******* and made himself look much worse than he did NIU

It was more how he said it - rather than just stating his opinion he had to explode on TV. Like MD said, most of the other games were blowouts. Obviously there was something wrong with those matchups.

There is no need to stroke his ego 7 months later, none. You would have thought being an analyst so long that he would understand how the BCS selection thing worked. It is not some committee that huddles and says lets select NIU over Oklahoma. The casual fan ignorant of everything BCS-related would have thought that was the case watching. NIU actually earned their way BY RULE, so that there is no questioning NIU deserved to be there. Florida really embarrassed the whole BCS process, and the fact Wisconsin got in (even though Im a Wisconsin fan) should have been considered an even bigger travesty. Herbstreit should not be congratulated 7 months later by an NIU fan for personally attacking an entire team for something that actually earned. Earning something in college football...a novel concept that is tough to grasp for herby.

Id chalk it up as being a little too star struck with someone, man crush, whatever you want to call it, but prairedawg is right, don't sell out.

What you did was the equivalent of becoming friends with a guy just because he has a hot sister, NIU being the guy, and Herbstreit the sister. You used the Huskie!

Herbshit and the like bashed NIU specifically. Instead of bashing the real problem, which is the BCS system. They could have taken the high road and done that, but if they did that, ESPN would have to punish them for disgracing their cash cow.

Bingo! NIU/non-AQ teams is/are not the problem. The problem is the SYSTEM.

Every year there is a team in the BCS bowls that has 5-10 teams more deserving then them. The only reason NIU got bashed is because we were not in the BCS club. If we had a BCS patch on our Jersey it would have been "our turn".

Such crap. Then you give idiots like ESPN/Herbstreit microphones and they complain about it, and the unwashed masses start to buy into it. There needs to be a major fix, not just little bandaids here and their.

And just as often there are non-BCS teams that are more deserving like this year, when about 10 to 12 teams were more deserving than Wisconsin to go.
