The SCOTUS struck down a provision that blocked same-sex couples from receiving federal benefits in a 5-4 vote.

"By this dynamic DOMA undermines both the public and private significance of state sanctioned same-sex marriages; for it tells those couples, and all the world, that their otherwise valid marriages are unworthy of federal recognition. This places same-sex couples in an unstable position of being in a second-tier marriage."

I have always felt that same-sex couples should be afforded the same joys of divorce given heterosexual couples. One law for all.

I can hardly wait until the polygamist Mormon communities sue for recognition of their plural marriages under these precedents.

Finally, a vindication of the American system of dual sovereignty, and the authority of states to regulate (absent Constitutional provisions to the contrary) what they have traditionally regulated!
