Thanks for posting the article.

I am looking forward to MBB this year.

Summer first, then football of course, but the MBB team should be worth the price of admission.

Go Rockets!!

Any reason for concern that Rian Pearson is "back home in Kansas City"?

Hope that's it= seemed odd that he would miss practice and the Blade would cite no reason for his absence. We could use him this year, he's a decent player.

I remember that Pearson said that having a child has greatly matured him and that his #1 goal is to get a college degree to support his family, so I doubt there's anything to it except spending time with his family.

Remember, because of when the College basketball season happens, he can not go home during Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Winter breaks like other students.

No conspiracy theory here... as our first legitimate "next level" guy since Greg Stempin, Rian has earned a little R&R.

In the article that spawned this thread Ryan wrote:
"Though the sample was small — only one hour — there was much to like about the men’s rookie triumvirate, which celebrated their one-year anniversary of committing to the Rockets with their first college practice."

After watching the men practice for an hour this morning, I thoroughly concur with Ryan's statement that there is much to like about the freshmen. The three amigos seem to be ahead of any learning curve associated with players new to college basketball and will push for playing time come the season.

I was especially interested in watching Zach Garber on the court as he will be counted on for getting minutes in the post. Garber looked to be about an inch shorter than Nathan Boothe but he is definitely a big shouldered, well-put-together young man. He might be a bit quicker on his feet that Boothe and also has a quick move to the basket.

Also Josh Lemons was hitting the net with regularity; this will be a big plus for the offense if he can pick up his scoring in games and force opponents to pay more than lip service when guarding him.

Coach K did a lot of smiling during the session.

Matt Smith is still sidelined recovering from some minor knee surgery but J.D. Weatherspoon was on the court.

Fred---any insight as to Justin Drummond? He should be an all MAC caliber of player based on what he did in practice last year.

Justin was just another body out there today, but we know that he can play.

Kowalczyk had everyone running the 3 on 3 drills for the bulk of the hour.

Fred--thanks for responding. It will be great to be able to go deep off the bench next year and have quality guys just wainting for their chance to shine.
