Ex-UT football player cites hazing for lawsuit
Former UT offensive lineman, Kyle Cameron (also a Toledo Central Catholic alum), has filed suit against the university, former UT head football coach Tim Beckman, and five other football staff members. He claims they were negligent in allowing initiation training by upperclassmen that caused him serious injuries.

The lawsuit seeks in excess of $25,000 for compensatory damages and in excess of $25,000 for punitive damages.

I just came across this in the Toledo Blade in yesterday's paper and found it very interesting. If Cameron would have ever actually seen the field, he would have been a monster, IMO.

Not exactly looking to "break the bank" so I don't suspect any ulterior motives here.

The line between hazing and building esprit de corps can be a little fuzzy I suppose. Fortunately this doesn't seem a seriously punitive request to look at that line and I hope Cameron has recovered from his injuries obtained while at the university.

That's a shame. He was a highly rated player. The numbers aren't too bad, though.

I believe he had a concussion. The dollars mentioned are just a formality. It could be any number above that.

No idea what happened here but hazing is just the stupidist thing ever. If I'm Cameron I'm giving a big F you to any upperclassmen intent on "hazing" and then filing charges if anything gets physical. When I ran we had a great sprinter absolutely ruined by hazing from his fraternity. Never understood anyone wanting to haze or allowing it to happen.
