West Virginia got a good one. He wanted to play for Tech but UH wouldn't let him so he decided on West Virginia. Sucks that we missed out on him but he will have a chance to play in a power 4 conference that has tons of fans.

I can't remember any WVU team being so loaded at RB before. We've now got 4 RBs who could start, and several others looking to get on the field. I don't think Sims will have to worry about getting so many carries that he runs down at the end of the season...

How many RBs does WVU put on the field at once? On many offensive plays, there is only going to be one RB, right?

Usually 1. Sometimes 2. Sometimes 0.

I think we are going to run more this year than last. While I agree with Bit that we have several RBs who can start, we do not have a RB that has proven that he can be "the guy". Buie and Garrison have both shown flashes, but Buie can be inconsistent and Garrison has been hurt (and can also be inconsistent). There is definitely room for Sims.

You forgot to list the diamond formation, where WVU puts 3 RBs in the backfield. Usually 2 of 'em are FBs, but that's 3 RBs in that formation...

Also, I think Garrison, Buie, or Dreamius Smith could be a full time starter. Garrison was coming off a serious knee injury last season, suffered just prior to the Orange Bowl, and wasn't back to his previous form. The spring game showed him to be the best RB among those available at the time, including Buie and Smith. Buie is faster, and very talented, but Garrison is the better RB IMO. I've seen way to many instances of Buie running right at the tackler, where Garrison does his best to avoid them. If Buie had Smith's size, I could see his approach working. But for a smaller back it's a losing proposition. Buie is a straight line runner, while Garrison uses his blockers and cutting ability. Smith could end up being the best of the ones being discussed here, due to his size, but he needs to learn the offense better...

With Sims receiving ability, he could be shifted to WR, which would allow him to use his ability in the open field, reducing the wear and tear on his body. WVU needs plenty of WRs in the Air Raid offense, and he has the ability in spades. I've seen several descriptions of him saying he's a WR in a RBs body. WVU needs WRs more than they need RBs. He could end up being used all over the field, like Tavon Austin was. He's not Tavon, and doesn't have the ankle breaking moves and speed Tavon does, but he wouldn't be a bad substitute for that role. He makes good use of his cutting ability, which you can see in his highlights...

I'm not a fan of the Big12, but hope Sims performs good while one year at WV.
