Tech. 7 months and 15 days

But talking recruiting this early is just crazy. Also Look at your commits a week before signing day. Almost always there will be 1-3 that will not be a LOI.

I'd wait till first day of classes in the fall, some that sign don't make it. ECU is only waiting on 3 for fall, the rest are already on campus.

Edit, to be clear I'm talking about the 2013 class.

ECU backed off recently. He came into camp weighing under 210. Was too slow to play OLB and not big enough for DE.

That's pretty original. No team's fans have ever said anything resembling that after losing a recruit. 04-bow

Thanks, I understand what everyone is saying, but the fact is you have to get to the top of the ladder one step at a time.

It all starts with a .....

1) A Staff and Coach that believe in "his" system and has a vision for the programs future.

2) Than everyone on staff has to reach out and contact the most talented students that want to be part of a historic moment in time. They will be the future of ODU Football, never will this opportunity be available again. They must want, believe, achieve and "Aim High"

3) Than the staff has to be able to paint a picture for these young men that they can be a part of this vision and future.

4) Verbal confirmation, is just a step in that direction.

Remember If you do not have the above you can never get to the goal and have those recruits sign LOI, and become members of the most successful startup Football program in History.

Perception Becomes Reality

Cincinnati still offered. Good programs know how to fine tune their recruits.

Yes,who interviews coaches and recruits. He knows more than fans do. I didn't that it was a VIP thread over there, had I seen that, I would not have posted it here.

Also, we are pretty loaded at LB right now and only need to sign a few. We can more selective this year. We haven't offered many LB's and have several 3 star targets we are focused on.

I still remember the 7 page thread when a Miner fan posted that a basketball recruit had signed with UTEP that also had an offer from Memphis.

Oshane Ximines ODU is very excited to have him, GREAT RECRUIT and will be a fantastic player for ODU. We all wish him the best.

Two days ago ECU prediction was 100%

Today 75% to Commit to ECU.....just mentioning. There is always more to the story.

What a 247staffer's prediction have to do with anything? I've never bothered even looking at them. It's the staffer's best guess. Who knows what ODU said to him today. It could be a promise of playing time right way, where as ECU was looks to red shirt him as we pretty loaded at LB. Or he could be doing like a lot of other kids have done in past years two in the past two years to ECU, verbally committed to us just to drum up more interest or more offers and then change their commitment, not to say he is. I don't worry about them till they are signed and on campus.

RE: 2014 Recruiting Update CUSA Schools and others
Whatever, if ODU truly beat ECU on this kid then so be it...Happens all the time, kids make their own decisions for their own reasons. One quote from his commitment article is very telling to me...."Old Dominion made it clear that they really wanted me." He just recently camped at ECU and committed to ODU after he camped at ECU...Read what you want into it but I doubt our coaching staff would let this kid leave campus without making sure he felt the love if he was one of out top targets. We had several commitments after this camp.

I suspect he was one of our "back-up" guys that all teams have...You know, the guy that they kinda put off until later in the year but keep in touch just in case. I mean honestly, we are talking about a 2 star kid who is a little too slow for linebacker and not big enough for a defensive end. So congrats to ODU on the kid and I hope he turns out to be a beast for you down the road.

I would caution you not to believe that all "offers" are legitimate committable offers. Some of these offers are contingent on certain things taking place. Also some of these kids read things as offers that are not truly scholarship offers.

Just about any LB we sign this year, unless they are a 4 star, will be red shirted and have to work up the depth chart. ODU could be simply be offering chance to see the field right away.

RE: 2014 Recruiting Update CUSA Schools and others
With our D the way it is I have a feeling we're going to see several more players like this. The kid looks like a baby so he'll def get bigger, faster and stronger. But coming here I think the key is play time. He may or may not have to wait as long to get on the field. Our dept at LB is loaded with RSFr and FR/So and I don't think many of them had the looks he's had so the odds are I'm guessing he'll be a strong candidate to play early. I like the future for him with a season and weight room behind him and a season playing with Caleb Taylor.

When I said players like this I meant players who will be lower in the pecking order and 2nd/3rd choices at other schools. I think we very likely will get several more of those from VT/UVA in the next season or two. It only makes sense. And I like the chip on the shoulders they may bring with them.

I'm not ashamed to get "scraps" that some of the bigger schools fans may call them (and I'm not saying anyone here has said that! So don't read into that!) and I think we're in a special position to offer these talented kids a place to come play immediately and prove themselves. Very excited to see the next 2-3 seasons.

And by signing day he could be committed to Hampton. Just don't get your panties all in a wad over a guy in June that says he's coming to play for you. As I said you can usually look a week before signing day at you commitment list and 1-3 will probably not be there on signing day.

With those who do sign a LOI don't expect all of those to be there when fall rolls around either. You may have academic casualties, some kid that just realizes he doesn't want to go to school, or a death in the family and the kid has to go to work for the family. In Snyder's 1st recruiting class we lost a recruit to a car accident. The kid lost his life in Atlanta driving up to enroll at Marshall.
