The Rangers are becoming a popular destination for players because:

1) Fairly good (albeit hot) weather.
2) No state income tax in Texas.
3) Generally stable leadership from Nolan Ryan, etc.
4) A consistently good farm system, ensuring that the team will remain competitive.
5) A central location; not too far from either coast and with easy flights to Latin America.
6) A local media that doesn't savage the players like in some other markets.
