thats true. though I doubt its batten. from my observation he seems like the kind of player that leads by example more than a vocal, even keeled presence. also, doesn't he have a history of not really putting in the effort off the court?

The Blaine Taylor 12-step method of breaking the kids down and then rebuilding them doesn't work on everyone. Batten responded much better under Corrigan's leadership. We'll just have to wait and see how he responds to Jones.

RE: Donte Hill
I'd like to see a Batten explosion this year. He has the ability and hopefully Jones let's him run and gun. If he gets hot and stretches the D I want to see Palmore/Freeman toss some amazing alley oops to our 4/5s.

RE: Donte Hill
My guess is Freeman and then Ross for leadership. Palmore as well

I think I already know the answer, but can a nonscholarship player play a fifth year?

A non scholarship player can play 4 seasons in 5 years. Nobody is allowed to play 5 years unless you are injured or have something terrible happen at the very beginning of the season. The problem with Hill was that the scrimmage at Clemson counted as an entire year. You have 5 years to play 4 years of basketball. With an approved waiver, you can get 6 years to play 4 years of basketball. The NCAA did not see a transfer after 8 minutes of closed scrimmage time as a viable excuse to gain an extra year.

The comments are pretty telling. It's only a matter of time before one group or the other breaks away. Has anyone ever looked into the feasibility of doing such a thing or is everyone truly that attached to the teet?

RE: Donte Hill
Just a sad state of affairs. Would have been great to have Hill on the team this year and I hope he does well in his future goals.
