RE: Pro-Am
The website is, to be kind, extremely unreliable. For one, yesterday's results are still not up. Two, the results from Saturday are incomplete. For instance, we apparently have 4 players on the BB&T team that won 76-67 on Saturday. However, the box score only accounts for 38 points and there were no rebounds.

Wonder why Mosley isn't playing, think he's in town. Nice kid hope he keeps working hard.

RE: Pro-Am
Get used to incomplete box scores for these games....that's the way it's always been and I don't see it changing anytime soon. Kent Bazemore played about 3 1/2 quarters for BB&T and led all scorers with 32 points. His brother WyKevin also played and Trey Freeman was not there. Ramone Snowden had some first game jitters initially but settled down and played well after that. Jordan Baker played sparingly and I don't believe he took a shot.

He is in town, as he was working the team camp this weekend.

Heard the shooting at town center Saturday was linked to some of the players who play in the pro am. Anyone have info?

That took place on Saturday. I believe the media would have said or printed something about that by now.

The murder victim was Rashawn Dukes from N. Chesterfield. I did a search with his name and basketball and found nothing, regardless it's a sad story wheher or not he was a player.

We went for the 4:45 game, but didn't stay that long, because none of our guys showed up. In fact, backyard Athletics started the game with 6 and then a 7th guy showed up. We sat next to a group of the Lady Monarchs in the stands. Very disappointed not to get to see anyone play, especially since I have to work Sundays and can't make any of those games.

RE: Pro-Am
EK missed Sat wasn't feeling himself, should be good to go in 2 weeks (no games this weekend)

Caught the Sun 2:30 MME-Realist (Bacote, Batten) playing BB&T (Trey Freeman, Ross, Snowden, Jordan Baker). Ross stole the show, was making some crazy dunks that were bringing down the house. The MME team with Radcliff, Batten and Bacote was too just to good and got the win. The BB&T couldn't buy an easy bucket, I never seen so many put-backs not drop. Batten had a very solid game, he was hitting his outside shots, played some good D with a couple blocks. Trey didn't play. Baker was a surprise off the bench. He's been working out and looking more like a D-1 player size wise. He made a couple of nice drives to the hoop and has a good looking jumper. I had seen him in HS and thought he was going to struggle at ODU. His speed & defense seems good and I think he's better than Key right now. He still has several guards ahead of him, but he's putting in the work and is improving. Snowden also come off the bench and looked solid after getting into the flow of the game. He's a scrappy player and he's a tweener at 6-5, can play and defend a few positions on the floor.

RE: Pro-Am
Watched the Sun games with several Monarch fans. The first had BB&T (Ross, Baker) Snowden and Freeman were no-shows. Ross looked great had several dunks, one at the end of the game was a thru the leg windmill dunk. The guy is a human highlight film. He had alley-oop that was off the chart, easily caught it couple of feet above the rim. Ross ended with an impressive 22pts. Baker play hard and looked pretty solid, very good D and stays active. He had 10pts.

The second game Backyard Athletics had EK, Hill, Ambrose and Nik. We are getting a very serviceable player with Nik. If he could play this year, he would getting meaningful minutes. He has a pretty good handle for a big and has an outside jumper. Jeff got a steal with him. EK looked much improved in the low post. The guy takes up a lot a room under the basket, grabs rebounds, protects the rim and makes his put backs. He has been, working on his post moves and was able the finish a couple of back to the basket plays. But lord help you if he gets the ball in the high post. He had players collapsing on him and he thinks about it too much. Ambrose didn't get much playing time. He has a good shot, took one 3 that didn't drop. Hill looks to be staying in shape and that's a good sign.

Going out on a limb but I'm guessing he doesn't know what to do and has to think. This slow him down and allows the other team to contain him easily.

True Blue, knows my sorry writing. When EK gets the ball in the high post (top of the key) he seems to freezes up. He's out of his range for a jumper and he spends too much time looking for an outlet. Then the other team has time to trapped him up. He needs to develop a shot or not over think things. EK also needs to use that big body to set more screens, you would need to take I64 to get around him.

I surely hope that we don't just set EK on the block and wrestle with the other team's bigs. He would be great if he learns to set picks and carve out space for our perimeter guys to create or be able to get off shots.
