RE: SI.com Realignment Report Card
In a normal year maybe, but last year, the A10 was equal with the SEC. Butler, VCU, SLU, Temple, and LaSalle all made the tourney.
Sagarin last year-
SEC 78.52
A10 78.51
don't get much closer than that.
Missouri/St Louis- Missouri had the 69th schedule, while SLU had the 88th schedule. That's hardly a huge gap at all. For discussions sake- Kentucky was 85th.
Now- this year- the A10 with losing Temple and Butler- most likely won't be the same.

Bad football that's not close to SEC quality (hey, they did beat Kentucky), a basketball program that has more negative press since Norm Stewart left than positive (and is not even the best program in Missouri)...and they got into the best football league in America.
Well played Mike Alden, well played.
Amazing... I really think you might want to go check out the records here. Most St Louis folks do not seem to have the same "Mizzou" problem as you. Be careful about that "best team in Missouri" comment. Totally different level of BB here. You cannot even compare the two. St Louis U, which I love and root for, never played a Big XII or SEC schedule. Call up Florida and Kentucky. I am sure they will schedule you.
Most St. Louis people like Tiger football. That's not hard to understand, fathom, or worry about. The SEC move was all about football, and for that, Mike Alden made the best possible move for his football team.
SLU is a better basketball team than Mizzou right now, and it's not close. The Atlantic 10 (as much as I don't particularly like it) was better than the SEC last season. Alden has ducked SLU, and his latest excuse is the Bragging Rights game...he doesn't think they need 2 games in St. Louis.
SLU has a nice program but being decent for two years does not make you a better program than Mizzou. If you said SLU had a better team last season I wouldn't protest too much. Mizzou is a high major program and SLU isn't close.
It's like comparing an FCS school to a P5 school. You might win ten games in the FCS, but there is no way you play the P5 schedules and still win ten games.
SLU is a lower division than Mizzou? I guess the tournament where SLU beat Memphis and Mizzou got beat by a 15 seed Norfolk State didn't happen?
Last I checked, SLU has won a tournament game each of the last two seasons, while Mizzou lost their first game each time.
Saint Louis is better than Missouri. That's why Alden is ducking SLU.

RE: SI.com Realignment Report Card
I rooted for Mizzou under Norm Stewart. I haven't liked what's happened since, hence the negativity toward Mizzou.
