Is that Bob Jones HS in Madison a public or private HS? I ask because its name is the same as a well known private college.

Public to my knowledge.

It ranks at least in the top 3 in regards to school size in the state.

It may even be #1.

In my post about the 2,000 top high schools in America, 20 were in Alabama and 4 of that 20 (1/5) are in the metro Huntsville area.

Per the latest AHSAA classifications, they're #6, behind Hoover, Sparkman, Baker, Murphy, and Prattville.

All of them are friggin' huge.

Bob Jones split last year into two schools and it's still one of the biggest in the state. Gives you an idea of exactly how big it was.

It's public. I can't imagine a private school having that kinds of attendance.

As was mentioned before, James Clemens was built and opened in Madison this year. A lot of kids were able to stay at Bob Jones who already started there, but they did lose some attendance because both schools are classified as 6A.

From 2001-last year, the high school was so packed that only grades 10-12 attended school there. The two middle schools had the 9th graders. Both high schools now have grades 9-12.
