Verly has been taken in the 14th round of the draft by the Tigers

I wonder what influenced the Tigers to do that?

The massive draft length always makes it easy to draft relatives of players or former players.

Way to go! He'll probably return for the senior season, baseball drafts are fickle things. He deserves it on his numbers after only one year of positional play.

Don't see him signing as a Junior. He will be back for his Senior season.

Ryan Yarbrough has also been drafted. Going to the Brewers.

Ben Verlander was drafted by the Tigers last year as well. I'm pretty sure he'll be back for his senior year.

Drafted in the 46th round coming out of high school. Wasn't eligible again until this year.

If I were him I would go.

True, but they weren't in the last few rounds...

I think Detroit was just giving the younger one a means of gauging where he is overall.

I'm sure he'll work hard in the off-season.

I was hoping for the Orioles to pick him up and send him to Norfolk.

Detroit brought him in for a workout last week and he hit well apparently. I bet they offer him the full slot $100,000 signing bonus and he goes. Glad to see Yarbrough drafted as well.

Verlander signed today and won't be coming back. Yardbrough didn't sign and will be back. Best of luck to Ben going forward.

IMO he should of stayed, I feel his stock would have only gotten better

I think if it was any team other than the Tigers, I think he would of come back. Coach Finwood was very excited about the players coming in, especially the four Kellam players.
