We can confirm rain! We landed about an hour ago and there is heavy overcast and a steady drizzle. We had bright white clouds until about 75 miles out from RDU. The weather is supposed to go downhill from here until Andrea passes.

On the positive side everything is very green.

RE: Tropical Storm Andrea
We haven't gotten much rain to date in RD area. Right now the area sits in a hole with storms all around us. Temps will be no higher than mid 70's and lows in the high 60's. Basically just a gray cloud covered sky. The latest predictions are no more than half inch of rain which you start shortly as Andrea moves east of us and sucks up Atlantic water and spins it towards us.

Also the weather probably isn't delaying too many folks who are traveling in today. There is a meeting scheduled for noon (EDT) to decide or sort of decide what today's schedule will be.

I would be very surprised if we play as scheduled. The evening is looking possible. Personally, I'd be ok if they called it off and waited until tomorrow after the storm has worked its way through.

There is actually a higher probability of rain tomorrow (60%) than this evening (30%) according to the official NWS forecast - so my gut tells me they will try to play this evening if conditions permit.

However, note that I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

The weather south of us looks more threatening than what we have now where most of the rain is west and north. Depends on the time frame of that getting to us. Right now I wouldn't be surprised if the UNC Super does get underway and then face rain issues.

The other good news is that the amount of rain predicted has dropped greatly. Since all of our starts at 4 pm I can see them willing to play fairly late tonight.

Nothing worse on a pitcher than throwing hard for two innings and then a two hour rain delay.

RE: Tropical Storm Andrea
From Chuck/John:
The issue at hand is (obviously) is the uninvited guest to this event, Tropical Storm Andrea. There was a conference call this morning between the NCAA, hosts and participating teams for both the Chapel Hill and Raleigh Regionals. After discussion of field conditions and available forecasts, the consensus was to evaluate the playing surface at Doak Field at 11:30 this morning and make a final decision to attempt to start on time or push back the start.

We will get you the information as soon as a decision is made.

If our game is pushed back, it will impact the availability of the game on ESPN over the air. ESPN has been exploring their options to maintain their commitment to make the games available, but there may be some shifting of assignments based on conflicting game times. Again, hold tight and we will get you the information as soon as we can.

Chapel Hill regional has been pushed back:

From Chuck:
Our neighboring regional in Chapel Hill has been bumped back, due to earlier sked start. We are scheduled for 4, no need to make call

According to the current radar, it looks like Raleigh is getting fairly lucky, more so than Chapel Hill. Not sure about last night, though.

On Weather.com, I see a 60% chance of rain at 4 PM, dwindling to 40% by 8 PM, with a random 0% chance spot at 5 PM. That smells like a multiple delay game to me. Tomorrow mid-to-late afternoon looks fine though.

Looking at the radar this morning it looks like all the rain has moved north. Should be sunny there this morning, right sport's fans?

Not yet (re. Sunny), but the radar is clear. Feels like Houston-- very muggy.

I'm hoping you and Tiki and Mrs. Tiki did this last night, and not at 11:00am this morning. I had heard good things about The Pit.
