Bermuda is a very pricey island too...

There truly is nothing new under the sun. Auburn played Villanova to a tie in the Bacardi bowl in Havana Cuba in the early 30's. Pre-Castro Cuba was a vacationer's paradise. Bermuda would be great for a end of season bowl, but smack dab in the middle of hurricane season for the beginning of the football year.

Travel in the 1930s was considerably easier than it is today...

Would have loved to be down in Havana with Hemingway drinking a strong drink and watching the Pirates play.

Maybe Gatsby can get something done here.

All it would take to bring Cuba in line would be to offer the Castro brothers ownership of a Major League Baseball team (like the Marlins) and open up tourism again and at this stage of their lives I bet they would jump on that deal with both feet. Throw in a territorial governorship and they would be the 51st state in 10 years time. It would get Chinese submarines out of the Gulf and Atlantic. Then we could have the Bacardi Bowl again.

For a great note in history, had the Milwaukee Braves signed Fidel he wouldn't have gone home to help lead the revolution in the first place, but then the Braves have never really signed well until recent history.

They did okay with Aaron, Mathews, Burdette, Spahn, Logan, etc. Bushville did win the World Series.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story. Yeah they did sign some hall of fame'rs, had a few great years, but as a whole until Bobby Cox came on board they underachieved in spite of continuing to have some great players. And, some believe that the lack of titles under Cox was still an indication of under performance.

Hell, just call it the Triangle Bowl!

That appears to be a stadium in Vietnam. Here is Bermuda's small national stadium.





Add some temporary endzone bleachers (4,000 or so) to get to 12,000 seats and maybe end up having a nice game in October between say Harvard and W&M (the Colonial Bowl?). Would bring in some wealthy alumni, without worrying about filling a large stadium

It would sure add to the reputation if a whole team went missing on their way there, or a boat load of their fans. The UFO guys would feast on that for decades. Spielberg would do a movie. Mulder and Sculley would investigate.

Panama has a 32,000 seat stadium, is less than 4 hour flight from Miami, has a history of American football and uses the US Dollar.

Put a stadium in the Virgin Islands. At least they're an American possession...

Problem with really small places like Bermuda or the US Virgin Islands is that they dont have the infrastructure to handle the number or flights and hotels needed to host a bowl game.

I know Pedro Pierluisi, a Puerto Rican politician, has been pushing very hard for PR's statehood. He's an alumn of Tulane. The American Athletic Conference should pursue getting a bowl game in Puerto Rico using those two connections.

I went to game in Atlanta a few years ago and every name on the wall of fame played a majority of their career somewhere else, with only Aaron making more that a token appearance in Atlanta. Spahn, Mathews, etc were all Milwaukee guys. That franchise was awful before it moved to Milwaukee and was awful for a very long time after it left.

There are quite a few stars that played. In the 80's and 90's here too.
