Do Anderson's players really defend, or do they rely on traps and steals and then get burned if those don't work?

that's with every coach that presses. you take your chances.

Just a couple of days ago, even Stammers and I agreed that the three of JJ, Chris and Geron should be expected to average 27-32 minutes each, meaning the 80 minutes at the 1 & 2 would essentially be filled and the overflow would take place with minutes (likely to GJ) going to the "3." The addition of Dixon, who is a 1 or 2 would mean he would likely eat up about 15+ mpg at the 1 or 2.

Our guards didn't really impress against MSU...It may turn out that he may get more playing time then expected.

I have been trying to tell people for the last couple of years that we are regarded as an athletic team, but we have a lot of pieces that aren't athletic. Antonio Barton and Chris Crawford are not overly athletic. Pastner chose to not play AB very much and Crawford seemed overatched. Geron didn't have a good game shooting, but he and Joe Jackson were able to match MSU. Here is the line.

Geron/JJ
FG 40.1%, the rest of the team 21.6%
FT 100%, the rest of the team 42.9%
PTS 28, the rest of the team 20
3PT, 4-14, the rest of the team 1-9

This is what happens when local media gets obsessed with the race to "scoop" other media.

Wuh? Geron and Joe led the team in pts, assists and rebounds that game. The threesome of Joe, Geron and Crawford is already one of (if not THE) best backcourts in the nation, before you add Dixon.

Gonna take some ego massagin to tell three senior players that anchor the backcourt that they are in jeopardy of losing minutes.

Likewise, does a 'free agent' player come to a school without getting some sort of playing time guarantee?

I understand you don't guarantee a frosh PT, but I would imagine Dixon probably wanted some assurrance he would get PT if he came here.

Lots of variables. Maybe Pookie won't qualify, maybe Markel's knee isn't fully rehabbed, maybe Dixon doesn't get the waiver. In a perfect world, Pookie is available, Markel redshirts and Dixon doesn't get the waiver.

Didn't a "source close" to Dominic Woodson make the same claim after our local guys broke the story?

I don't think most of these sources are as close to these players as they believe themselves to be.

Same worry I had about Kane coming in.

Didn't realize he averaged 26 mpg (despite coming off the bench). Can't imagine he would come to a team for one year if he didn't think/was promised he would get those kinds of minutes again.

that's with every coach that presses. you take your chances.

It's a good thing we don't press then.

We don't press and Pastner can't beat top 25 teams. As always, you're a little behind the times, son. You're way out of your comfort zone when you post more than one word at a time.
