There is every reason to wait until the Fall sports begin before making any announcement. All the Fall sports get to compete for championships if we wait. We also collect more NCAA money from the CAA if we wait. There is no strategic advantage to announcing anytime soon.

The moment we announce, teams are ineligible and the $$$ for next year is forfeit. After July 1, there is no reason to wait, unless the move isn't until 2016.

Is there a source for your allegation above? I'm not trying to be argumentative but my understanding is that the timing does matter to the Fall teams for competing for conference championships. If they have started their season, they are eligible for conference titles and playoffs. Also, the NCAA money is paid before the Fall teams begin their seasons.

George mason announced during spring sports and all became immediately ineligible. They need to stop worrying about timing and just announce. Something will become ineligible and o well! Life will go on.
Wait until July 1 and collect this year's NCAA money, then just make a statement already.
You're wasting valuable time to get the news out, get the casual fan excited and then let them donate and buy tickets. The longer we wait, the more empty seats we will have in 2013.

and around and around we go.

One of my best friends has a great gf that he needs to go ahead and propose to already. She is waiting impatiently and wonders if he ever will. She watches all of her friends get engaged and married.
He's a great guy, but I'm not sure what exactly he's waiting on. It's just maybe maybe maybe.

Yes I am making that assumption and I have nothing to back it up other than approximately 5-10 of our "insider" posters claiming that we should "be patient" and throwing out various indirect comments.
I think there's a sbc offer at minimum.

GMU announced this past spring sports season, and their spring teams were immediately ineligible for the Spring Championships.

Here is my question to the 5-10 "insider" posters who have the rumors and throwing out the various indirect comments.

At least HolyCityDuke indicates that the MAC is not in the works, which leads me to think it must be SBC football-only.

- Why would CUSA and the CBS Sports guy repeatedly say that CUSA is not expanding to 16 if they are planning on taking JMU in the next month or two? What is their motive for continuing to say that? why not just say nothing until they are ready to announce? I don't see any benefit for them to give the head-fake. I also don't see the benefit for ODU AD Selig to continue to publicly lobby for JMU if CUSA already plans on taking them. Why not just say nothing?

- Concerning the AAC, besides me just don't see them being interested, why would Selig lobby for CUSA to take JMU and for JMU to join CUSA? If he knows that AAC is interested in JMU, surely he knows he is wasting his time making all that noise.

- ACC? Come on, no chance.

That leads me only to the MAC or SBC football-only. Maybe the big surprise is SBC football-only with A10 for the rest? I really believe Delaware has something up their sleeve and the only read I have gotten was their beat-writer Tressaloni talking about its time for UD to explore the A10 and that this spring they have studied joining the MAC.

So lets hear it JMU "insiders"

leaks.... we need leaks...

I hear there is a big new marketing campaign coming to JMU starting in July and they are interviewing for it now.

I'm in no way an insider... However, if I were to guess, JMU is begging for CUSA and keeping Sunbelt as a close second. MAC would only be an option if it were the only option. Lastly, I prefer JMU to take the southern route as opposed the rust belt route...

any option that has football in FBS is a good option.

some are better than others, but worst case scenario for FBS is SB for football only and CAA for everything else. And that is NOT a bad option.

I rule out Sun Belt for all sports because I just can't believe that would happen.

It really doesn't matter to me what conference we go to as long as we go for all sports and jump to FBS. C-USA, SB, or MAC....doesn't matter. JMU just needs to make a statement and prove that we belong in the big league.

I was in Rocktown today. I saw President Alger eating lunch at Clementine. A buddy egged me on, tried to get me going about conference realignment but I saw President Alger before I or anybody in our party went there...

Looking forward to July 2. Something has to give in July. Even the most secretive admin on the planet can't ignore the GMU/Carr "end of summer" comment. The admin can't enter football season with out a stated plan/vision for the future even if it rips out the collective Duke Dog heart. If we hear nothing in July the flags flying at BFS should be plain white.
