Kent Roosevelt Rough Rider, my alma mater. Love it. Heard he is a great kid and hard worker from many people in the community. John Nemec is a great football coach, so I know that Coach Nemec is pushing Matt very hard and teaching him the right way to play the game. Welcome Matt!

Ohio's talent pool is extremely deep for 2014. About 300 prospects are good enough to be in the JJhuddle.com Top 200

After a dearth of linemen last year, Hanyes has sure gone after them this time. That's five so far.

In the 2012 recruiting class Hazell brought in 4 OL, 2 of which are expected to start this year. In 2013, only 1 was brought in last class.
Not sure if anyone else saw this, but Haynes/staff signed a JC LB from California in April, so the LB depth doesn't concern as much now that I know they have a JC LB to come in and compete. By the way, he is huge for LB standards in reference to his weight, 255lbs (so says espn.com).
Here's the link to his player page: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/footba...jake-houts

They also signed a JUCO o-lineman to help with depth and experience concerns there.

And he's a Cleveland St. Ignatius kid, we don't see many of them especially going the JUCO route.

Fantastic news on the recruiting class!
The major sites are way behind in their reporting. Both Ohio and KSU have hit instate hard and with success. It must have to do with a deep talent pool in-state this year.
In contrast, Miami has only 2 guys in-state this year, further indication that coach Treadwell will be out the door with another bad year or 2.

New faces: Among the new faces on the 13 MAC teams this season, Kent State has a unique one.
Jim Katusha is not only a coveted 6-5, 290-pound offensive lineman, he also is a sophomore junior-college transfer from Butte C.C. in California by way of Ohio University.
What makes him rare at KSU is the fact he is a product of St. Ignatius High, and the Flashes have not been able to crack that hotbed of prep recruiting in decades.
"He wanted to get back home, and we were looking for guys who could help us,'' first-year coach Paul Haynes said.
Katusha has already made his first impression, as his game jersey complete with name and number, was hanging at the Kent State table during media day in Ford Field.

That is great that KSU gets him for 3yrs and not 2yrs and even better that he wants to be @ KSU.
