RE: Hollins situation getting a little ugly
Just because they run a basketball team doesn't make them a bunch of geniuses. I didn't mean any offense by the dolt comment Bill, perhaps I should have used the word tightwads. They are tinkering with the mechanics of a playoff team why exactly? To save a few bucks? Because Hollins is stubborn? How much are the butts in the seats and ad dollars worth from wining and being a perennial playoff team? Maybe their decision will work out, maybe it wont, I just dont understand in our position taking that risk.
We knew how the team would respond without Rudy, we had seen that. How will they respond without Hollins? Who knows but as a casual observer, I think the guy can coach his tail off. He commands respect on the court and I like his no nonsense approach. It appears to me he just isnt a big enough suck up. Hollins needs one or two more solid pieces and we could be NBA champs. The ownership needs to go get them, I dont care who they trade as long as its not the big 3. As far as our ownership intelligence, If I pay 100,000 grand for a camaro does that mean I'm a genius? Maybe they are right to dump Hollins but I think they need to go to Vegas if they want to gamble like they are. We should have got a first round pick in the Rudy trade for Hollins to work with but our management was too smart to pull that one off too.
JMO, maybe they are rocket scientists after all. I have Grizz fever, and have for years now, I just hate to see our cities one Major League team relegated to podunk status by a bunch of penny pinchers and micro managers. I'm not an expert Bill, nor a business genius, but I know Lionel Hollins has done a admirable job coaching and if you are going to replace him, as important of a component as he is, you better know wth you are doing. There is a ton at stake for our city and community. JMO, like I said, guess thats why I'm not in business like some of you guys, just seems like we are really on the verge of doing something special and were going to "fix" it when its not broken?

RE: Hollins situation getting a little ugly
It is called negotiations. I think the grizz management are doing it right, even if it is risky. They didn't cave in to hollins. They have stated that they want hollins to work with them more. Contacting george karl is to show the appearance the team will move forward if they have too. I haven't been able to keep up with all of it like some of you, but i'm hoping hollins and the grizz will work something out. Hollins is a good coach, and more importantly, a good person. Hollins might be stubborn to roster changes, young player development and weird lineups as a result of not wanting to give younger players any playing time, but i'm hoping he will see that by easing up on being so stubborn, he can actually become a BETTER coach.
Hopefully both sides can come to an agreement. I really like coach hollins even if he isn't the perfect coach.

The poster obviously agrees with me that coaches are irrelevant, it's all who the NBA wants to win on a given night and anybody can win 50 if the league wants them to. Glad to have some backup.

I for one would not be too broken hearted if he left. He has taken us to a new level but not all that sure he can take the next step. He was totally schooled in the Spurs series. Out coached at every turn. New blood may be needed to reach the next level.

Yeah...that poster obviously thinks any NBA team can win 50 games. Just goes to show how much of the NBA he/she follows.

They could if the NBA directed it so; coaches are irrelevant, remember? Only players matter.

They don't have the players and a rookie coach.

The coach is not relevant, or so I've been told.

That doesn't even deserve an appropriate response

I'm not into word games either. I just wish they'd get this over with.

I doubt there will be a resolution this month. Hollins contract runs thru the end of June.
