RE: New Ted Constant Convocation Floor
I don't understand what was wrong with the old logo?
I loved it, all we needed to change were the Caa/cusa logos.
Seems like a waste of money for not much results.
I don't think it's that much better, is ANY better, than what we already had.

RE: New Ted Constant Convocation Floor
There are a couple of reasons why I like using the outline of Virginia for "branding" purposes.
As has been stated elsewhere, there are now three state schools in Virginia which compete at the highest NCAA level in all sports. Virginia, and Virginia Tech being the other two, are obviously located in the State (Commonwealth) of Virginia. All Virginians should know this, but most people across the country probably do not. The Monarchs will now be playing on a higher profile stage, and when people in other parts of the country see our teams play they will now have another way to know where we are located. If JMU ever does move up we will have already layed claim to the use of the Virginia outline. That will be our thing.
The "map branding," particularly in regards to football, highlights that we are one of the three Virginia teams playing D-1 football. This could be useful, especially in the early stages of recruiting.
Lastly, Old Dominion University is the ONLY university in America which uses it's official state nickname as it's name. Six others, (Indiana University, University of Iowa, Nebraska, University of North Carolina, Ohio State University, and Oklahoma) use their state nicknames as their school nicknames, but ODU is unique in adopting the state nickname as it's name. I feel like using the map of Virginia is a natural expression of who and where Old Dominion University is.

I am impressed with your computer-design skills, but I don't like the results.
Options 2 and 3 make it appear as if the lion is hiding behind the state map. Option 1 appears as if he is mating with it.
I have no problem with the current proposal.

Another thing that is missing from the new court logo is some type of indicator where Norfolk is. Now that would be pretty sweet if they could work that in some how. Just my two cents.

I like option 3 as well. Gets it all in. I've always thought our name was part of our logo. I like the font and the whole thing.

I think I'm one of the few that is happy with the new design. Adding more to it just makes it way too busy for my taste.

Of the three, I like option two. However, like ODUD13, I still prefer the new design. (I still would like to see "THE OLD DOMINION" underneath the VA/NC state line and "MONARCHS" at each end of the court.)

I like the Monarchs on the side, if OLD DOMINION is on the court.
I like this option as well!

I agree. Otherwise it's like an annoying infomercial... "Head-On... apply directly to the forehead! Head-On..."
Edit: Whew, I emailed Selig and he said that the design in the announcement is not finalized. I feel better now

Option 2 is far better than the logo the school came up with.
You can barely tell what our logo is it is so crammed together in the logo the school came up with.
Well done, I hope someone higher up sees it and reconsiders but knowing the way collegiate politics work, don't hold your breathe.

All due credit to Monarch Pride for some very skillful work, but I agree with our local drunkard.
To my unskilled eye, the ODU lion is more effectively incorporated as part of the state map than he is lurking behind it or on top of it.
