Just to show how strong football in the south is, Mercer has sold over 4,000 season tickets already.

Just wanted to drop a line and welcome you guys to the SoCon !!! I think adding Mercer and ETSU will turn out great for the conference. Now if we could just get rid of the teams that don't want to be here and get you guys in here I'd be happier.

One more year isn't too bad to wait! Looking forward to learning more about the teams. I like having UNC-G in the mix.

We are losing almost all of our rival schools. So it's going to be an interesting new conference for the Spartans. My school has really neglected a few of it's major sports programs over a long period of time and has had to spend the last few years really rebuilding things. I'm hoping there will be some real progress by the time Mercer and the others join the SoCon.

BTW, no need to use the hyphen in our name. Most of the UNC system schools have tried to do things to get away from the flagship school. UNC-Charlotte has just gone with "Charlotte" and UNC-Greensboro & UNC-Wilmington now just go by "UNCG" & "UNCW". Not a big deal to me, but some of G fans get defensive about it.
