RE: Question for S. Miss Fans
That team literally quit after we lost the chance to have a winning season. They weren't trying too hard before that, but after the loss to UCF they mailed it in. Fedora would've easily won 8 games last year if not more.

Coaching does not make that much of a difference. When we played you last year it looked like you had less talent than n many years. I am guessing that Fedora's last year at USM had many seniors on the team vs last years team. That makes a huge difference.
Baruna, I take it you didn't listen to ANY USm fans after every game... you didnt' see the games that were on TV....
We MIGHT not have won 9.. but we sure as hell would have had a winning season again.

And you misspelled ya'll. The apostrophe represents missing letters. Y'all is a contraction of you all. Hence y ou all --> y 'all.

this is a universally accepted assumption. it is also incorrect. y'all is what the old english phrase "ye all" has evolved into over time. y'all cannot be considered a "southern term", since it's existence predated the american south.
"ye" is the plural "you", as "thee" is the plural "thou".

1. Excitement over the new hire. How many fans have realistic expectations after they hire a guy that they are excited to get?
2. The fact that this isn't Ellis Johnson: See rest of thread
3. Overestimation of talent on the team: Fedora left us in bad shape and Ellis Johnson damn sure didn't help.
4. Underestimation of what it will take to build back: Hell...physically, these kids have to be rebuilt from the terrible S&C program last year. Then, there's their morale.
5. How bad C-USA is: Honestly, I think most of our fans (including myself) are of the belief that this is a conference we should dominate when we get back to normal.
#5 may be the strongest reason, to me. Realistically, I probably should expect 3-4 wins. I'm going in thinking six.
Fedora did not leave us in bad shape, EJ just couldn't coach worth a ****!!
I think it was both.
EJ couldn't coach for ****....no doubt about that. I still maintain that the main cause of this team being so bad was him putting together an incompetent staff that, had we had leadership set, no AD would have allowed. I don't think a team goes 0-12 in C-USA solely because of bad coaching, though.
If Fedora coached that team, I think we go 5-7.
I hope I'm wrong, and I'll be happy to eat my words if these guys show me I was wrong. I didn't see much talent, though. At the very least, the returning talent spoken of is hypothetical and not proven.
Many fans said the same thing about our defensive talent when many of us were calling for Bradford's firing. Well, look what happened to the defense under a competent leader in 2011! They set an NCAA record with 8 interception returns for TDs.
The talent is there. Johnson just didn't know how to use it.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. In modern American english, you is the plural you. Hence you = ye.
So, what does ya'll stand for? Yarn roll?

I wouldn't consider it a contraction at all. it's more of a garbling of the phrase that has occurred over time.

I'd assume it's "you will".. I mean it's "they'll" "he'll" "she'll"... so "Ya'll" is "you will".

That may very well be what started it. But it is now a contraction of you and all.

C-USA will be better when every one expects the run to the Conference Title runs smack-dab through Hattiesburg. It's a proven axiom that you play up to your competition, and a strong, consistently powerful USM team will be the rising tide that lifts all boats in C-USA. I have to say if Marshall doesn't win it all, I hope that USM does. No disrespect meant to any other team, but we all should be hoping that USM is back, near to form this year and every year thereafter.

Language evolves. What the majority say is what prevails. Today, most people use y'all to represent you all.
When I was a kid, 40 years ago, the word “often” was usually pronounced with a silent t. Now, most people pronounce it with the t sound.
