Rice is leaving Houston tomorrow morning by bus and will travel to College Station, where they will share a charter to Eugene with the Aggies and UTSA. It's just my opinion, but whoever came up with this idea should be congratulated. This is much better than using commercial flights, etc. Hopefully a start to a great weekend.

We can get Owls and Aggies on the same charter flight for 3-4 hours but can't get Democrats and Republicans to even talk to each other for 10 minutes? What's this world coming to? Was Bill Murray right? Will we soon see dogs and cats living together?

If we managed to get the horns and the aggies on the same charter, then capitol hill has no excuse at all!

Well, I mean, they have nothing to do this weekend. They can come if they want to.

WG and aTm's coach should definitely invite them. I'm sure Augie will be so pleased!

RE: Rice baseball at Oregon tournament roll call....
I would imagine that it is probably much easier for three baseball teams with all of their equipment to get through security and on the plane for a charter flight from B-CS than it is from IAH....In addition, why have all three teams have to go to the expense of chartering a bus to the airport when it reduces the overall cost for only two teams to have to do so.

Wonder if this is our charter. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/CXP311

Although this seems to be flying from CLL (College Station) to OKC and then onwards to EUG.. hmm

OKC is the site for the Women's College World Series for softball that starts tomorrow. The Aggie softball team was knocked out at the superregional level but maybe some people from the various athletic departments represented on the flight are attending the games and/or meetings there, perhaps????

Just a guess...

An Aggie friend suggested the teams take a group photo in front of the plane and email it to Augie with the message "Wish you were here!"

Thanks.

Looks like the flight left 40 minutes past scheduled departure and landed in KOKC a few minutes ago. Next up, a 3 hour flight to Eugene.

Plane is en route from KOKC as of 1430 CT

Interesting. I guess Corvallis' airport is too tiny to fly into - even with a charter? But it's only an hour or so from Eugene to Corvallis so no biggie for A&M and UTSA.

Hopefully Greenspan can chat a bit with the A&M folks en route about our future SEC invitation. Since I won't hold my breath for that, I do hope seriously that we talk to A&M about playing them a few times next year in baseball as we definitely will need to upgrade our NC schedule. It wasn't our fault that so many NC opponents this year had dreadful years but we still need to work on that aspect of the 2014 season.

My guess re CLL-EUG is that the deal included a concession to A&M (take off from CLL) and a concession to Rice (land in EUG). CVO has the runway to handle the a 734, though there's not a lot of room to spare (in width or length) if the weather's bad.

Does this mean that A&M will come watch us after they get knocked out?

The runway is 5900 feet which should be plenty for a 734 even without reverse thrust. CVO doesn't have a tower or ILS system though, so you are likely correct that landing there in inclement weather would be no fun.

Wonder if they have airstairs for a 73x height aircraft. Some muni facilities don't since the CRJ/ERJ's usually have built-ins.

They packed a slip and slide for this purpose, along with its potential use in any rain delays.

Here you go. This also shows a longhorn trying to run up the stairs to catch the plane to the NCAA tourney 05-stirthepot
