Honest question, so please leave off the "troll. blah blah blah". From a basketball perspective, what has he done ON THE COURT that warrants anything even in this neighborhood? Please, I'm honestly curious to how you feel, not looking to start anything.

It's about the big picture with him, so no sense going there.

A meaningless questions. It's what the job here pays.

Ok, I mean I get it, he's a nice guy, never a worry about the program being in trouble. But it just feels weird as a Louisville fan to see. I guess for that kind of money, most fans would have expected to win one game against a legit team. Can't wait till next year!!!

RE: congrats to Coach Pastner !!
Think he is worth it, but i would have much rather seen it more back loaded so he would get the majority of the increase after reaching certain longevity thresholds. Incentive for him to stay long term instead of getting what he can now and moving on when a better offer comes. Do not want to see his contract explode in a bidding war when we are going to need to free up some money for CJF next year or the year after.

106-34 overall record, in his FIRST 4 years as a head coach after having to rebuild a decimated recruiting class in such short time when he was first hired. 3 Conference tourney championships, 3 trips to the NCAA touney in a row. His first time losing by 2 in the first round to a Final 4 team.

He graduates our players early and we have never had any guys get in trouble with the law. He doesn't break rules (on purpose) minus the little twitter ordeal, which he blamed on his wife, lol.

Most of this contract is based on the future though, IMO. He will always give us a shot with the talent he brings in, plus he really is starting to get more comfortable being the head honcho.

In a blue collar city...never hear how he gives back...think he will donate some funds to school board? This salary and all salaries are out of whack....

It seemed like we played the majority of ranked teams his first season as HC, I believe we played 4 or 5. After that we have averaged maybe 2 ranked teams a season and they are usually in the early season tournaments, which we almost never play well in. I think once we get more opportunities the wins against "quality" ranked opponents will come much more commonly.

I don't know if the figure is justified, that is A LOT of money... But it's clear the University feels the need to keep him locked up for awhile. I don't know many programs that can or will pay more and that bodes well for us, if he continues to improve, which he has done, every season.

Like you cbhs, but that's bs logic. He's had 2 top recruiting classes and 1 win against a ranked team in 4 years. Wow.

He recruits at a very high level. The wins will come, even if by default (which it won't be).

He has had the talent to win, and we have come very close to beating some great teams. Yes close doesn't mean squat, but it is something to look at. Almost beat #1 Kansas, Arizona in the tourney...

We will see how he stacks up next season. No excuses with our schedule and talent we should get some ranked wins. WE all want to see him beat a team like Florida, Oklahoma State, UL, UCONN, so on and so forth.

I really do think next year we will get some top 25 wins, because we have many more opportunities to get one, as opposed to his 4 first years where we rarely played a ranked opponent during our peak.

I'll add that if we don't beat a ranked team next year, which I think the chances are very low, it will be VERY disappointing. Unless we get to the final 4 02-13-banana

Inherited a depleted roster and has:

-Won 3 consecutive Conference USA Tournaments (2 on the road)
-2 consecutive Conference regular season championships
-3 consecutive NCAA bids (advanced to "3rd Round" this year)
-Won 30+ games this season
-Maintained program at "Top 25" level during first 4 years at the help

I know you specifically said "ON THE COURT" but keep in mind a lot of his value is in the community, in the classroom, and on the recruiting trail.
