LOVE cream soda.
+2. IBC makes a good cream soda. I'll fall back on their root beer in a pinch.

I wish I could get it here.
It was a sign of the Mad Men times of the 50's and early 60's but the first Sun Drop bottles advertised them as mixers for certain varieties of alcohol (not named specifically) like Vodka and Gin. It was such a hit as a soft drink that by the late 60's they dropped that marketing aspect of the product (it is an excellent mixer for Vodka) and went after the soft drink aspect. Like all drinks the taste was much cleaner and the flavors much more distinct with sugar than it has been with corn syrup. Dr. Pepper I think suffered the most from flavor blurring which occurs with corn syrup usage.

Cool. I've been known to use Sun Drop as a mixer. It might sound weird but I was fond of Sun Drop + JD.

As someone who grew up on Dublin Dr Pepper (the elixir made with pure cane sugar rather than HFCS or Beet Sugar) i can tell you that it tastes significantly different. It makes me sad that I have tasted my last Dublin.

Cheerwine from a bottle is good. So is Mountain Dew from a bottle.

By the way, you can buy Sun Drop in Tennessee and parts of Georgia as well, and some military commissaries carry it also.

IBC isn't bad at all. I like the Jones Cream Soda best, although it's way overpriced...

It tastes better from a glass container than from plastic (which is harmful due to pcp's which inhibit testosterone production and pose a cancer risk) or from a can. And, Mexican Cokes are made with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. Sugar also gives a much cleaner taste (like all of the soft drinks I had as a kid that were once made with real sugar and came only in glass bottles which were by the way more environmentally friendly).
+1
The popularity of Mexican Coke has spread now that enough people have noticed how much better it tastes. I've seen it for sale in several Costco stores and most places that carry "specialty" sodas have it too.
I heard that Pepsi has now made Mexican Pepsi (again, with sugar instead of corn syrup) available in some places, though I haven't seen it myself.

Cherry Zero is the best somewhat widely available option in my opinion. I do love the new coke machines that allow you to customize drinks with flavors.

RE: Coke or Pepsi
Dr. Pepper
Dr. Pepper Ten
Vanilla Coke Zero
Barq's Rootbeer (Coke product)
Coke Zero
7UP (Dr. Pepper product)
Orange Crush (Dr. Pepper product)
RC Cola (Dr. Pepper product)
Sun Drop (Dr. Pepper product)
Sunkist (Dr. Pepper product)
I mostly drink water these days, Dasani (Coke). But above is how I feel from the days I had a lot of soda and if I give in and have one these days that would be the list. I also wish Dr. Pepper would make a Vanilla Dr. Pepper. The only time I get that is when I put vanilla in myself at a QuickTrip or if I pull into a Sonic.
So I think I prefer Dr. Pepper products overall, but I'd choose Coke between Coke and Pepsi.

I had a vending business at one time and the Coke outsold Pepsi by a little bit, and Mountain Dew came in a strong third. Very few Dr. Pepper fans, even though it supposedly had a loyal following.

It appears that Coke won the NCSU contract. The decision was strictly financial. No need to concern ourselves with what students might prefer. /sarcasm.

I'm really not a soft drink drinker, when I do it's usually Ginger Ale.

Coke bought and renewed their contract with ECU from a local Pepsi Bottling business that family owned.
Personally, I get why Universities would like these kinds of exclusive deals for food and beverage but as a consumer, at a institution of higher learning, I don't understand why having both is a bad option.

There was a cash incentive that exceeded expectations by 10 to 20 times. Plus when you offer exclusivity you tend to get better prices.
