My seats are to the 3rd base side of home plate (if the 1st base line extended into the stand it would just about cross my seat). So my angle on plays at the plate is pretty good.

My take is that because Geoff had to reach into the lefthanded batter's box to make the catch he couldn't quite get back in front of the plate to make the tag. I'd say he tagged the runner in about the middle of the plate & that the safe call was probably a good one.

That being said... It was a really close play & a replay might very well show something different.
