5 games, all decided by 1 run and 2 took extra innings. Really incredible to think about when you look at our records.

USA officially ends FIU's time in the Sun Belt Conference with a 7-6 win.
Tomorrow's Semis
#8 Arkansas State vs #4 Florida Atlantic
#2 South Alabama vs #3 Louisiana
ASU is the only seed outside the top 4 to make it to the semis. ASU and USA would need to win twice to make it to Sunday.

RE: SBC Baseball Tourney
Typical ASU. We score 2 in the 9th and get the tying run to 2nd with 1 out. Next batter lines a single and a true freshman ran a stop sign at 3rd and gets thrown out by a mile at home. Had he stopped, next batter would have tied the game.
FAU wins 5-4 and will play for the title tomorrow.
Tough effort for an ASU team that played all tourney with 22 guys, and only one of our top relievers thanks to injuries and grades.

Cajuns up 4-0 in the 3rd and threatening again. Good start for the Cajuns, USA just looks like they're out of gas.

UL run rules S Al 12-2 final in 7th. In reality there wasnt an eyelash separating UL, S Al and Troy this year. Louisiana got hot at the right time. I hope Troy and S Al represent the conference well in the NCAA's. Best of luck.

I figured it would turn out this way. It's rare the regular season champs win the tourney... Our guys just were not into
It this weekend. Plus it's in y'all's back yard.
Also watch out for FAU! They are getting hot right now.

I would say Troy and SoBama approached the tournament a little differently than other teams. Getting guys some work, and getting them some rest. Hopefully that pays off come next weekend. The bats do need to heat up next weekend, though.

I would disagree. If South Alabama let Izzo go 8 innings in a 10-2 game against UALR, how does that job with letting their starters rest? Their approach was clear on the first two days of the conference tournament, play to win. After UL pounded them 9-2 on day two and knocked Bell out after scroing 4 runs in 2.1 innings on him, they knew they would have to win fours games to win it. They also brought in sidearm throwing Jamie Dennis because he had shut UL down in Lafayette and that didn't work.
Then South Alabama was stretched out again by the 7-6 win over FIU. Against FIU, they went with James Traylor, Hunter Soleymani and Kyle Bartsch; they were trying to win that game, not rest people.
Today they were 10 run ruled and it was 9-2 after the sixth. At that point they started worrying about the regional. They started the regular lineup in every game, that isn't a staff trying to rest their team. They simply got pounded by UL period.

I think you just proved his point.... UL and FAU wanted it more.... USA and TROY had already won the conference.

I'm not going to argue that UL and FAU didn't want it more, but I don't agree that USA and Troy just showed up to make an appearance. It was clear both tried to win but circumstances on the field dictated otherwise.

I thought Troy and FAU have taken the best approach of the top 4 to the tournament. Both tried to win, but refused to overwork a pitcher to get there. The top guys played when needed, but not overused. They both understand that the conference title is nice, but it is relatively unimportant because neither have a shot at hosting.
USA played hard because they wanted to host. ULL is playing hard because they want to win the tournament in front of their home fans.
