8-0 Spartans in the top of the sixth. Looks like the Bears will be hunting for an at-large bid to the big dance.

With all sincerity, I hope that ETSU wins the tournament and gets the Auto-bid. I also hope Mercer still gets an at-large and the committee doesn't hold this against them. Would be nice for both bids to go to the SoCon invitees.

Thanks MercerFan. You guys should be a shoe in for an at large. 40 wins usually gets you in.

I think Mercer is shoe in for the NCAA. Their excellent season is obvious to everyone that they are deserving. I also think the Bears are good enough to advance in the tournament.

With the best pitcher in the ASUN at our disposal, things are looking pretty good for a title tomorrow!

KSU has a 3-0 lead on UNF right now. They have to beat the Ospreys twice to advance, but if they beat them once, we'll be one win away from a conference title.

This has been a really phenomenal run.

No matter what, all we have to do is win one tomorrow, even if UNF wins today. Once you get to the title game, you just play one game.

The bracket is a little confusing, but I'll take your word for it.

There should be no debate, then: Doane starts tomorrow.

That's how the Southern Conference does it, but the A-Sun had it set up differently. I think because of all the rain delays, you're getting screwed out of the advantage if it's just a 1-game final. ETSU should have 2 games to win 1.

Taken right from the bracket:

-Game 16 will be necessary if one team is undefeated before Game 15 [ETSU]and then loses in Game
15 to a team that has one loss[UNF/KSU]

I was hoping Kennesaw would win today so that they would have to play another game before us- that has to be advantage us.

But If Kennesaw wins tomorrow and plays their ace against us- that makes me nervous. That guy has like a 0.8 ERA

I'd like to see you guys win, but I'll be shocked if Doane starts. It's a rarity. We're talking about a college kid that is used to 7 days rest between starts. Now you're asking for 4 days rest. He also just threw 9 innings / 110 pitches. I just don't see it happening, but you're clearly right that he's your guy when available. Good luck in the final!

I am confused by the bracket as well. The way I read it if we lose the first game we're still alive

KSU beats the Ospreys. They play again at 1 tomorrow, and the title game will start at 4:15 or 30 minutes after the first game.

ETSU has a huge advantage going into Sunday. They have to be the favorite to win it now.

This should be a case of Johnny Wholestaff being ready. If its a 1 gamer then take no chances. Is Doane struggles then get the "pen" going

Baseball at ASun tournament
I understand that apparently the ASun changed the bracket, supposedly because of weather. It was supposed to the the winner of North Fla-Kennesaw St. game playing us, and having to beat us twice (since we have not lost, and both of them have.) Now it's a winner-take-all single game.

That helps the other two teams, particularly Kennesaw State, if they can hold Janus (their stud pitcher, who is every bit as good as Kerrry is... 9-0, era less than 1.00...) till they see us. He beat us earlier this year. They have to win the first game, however, so it'll be interesting to see how they play it today.
