Besides the great publicity of playing in the Orange Bowl, looking back I think the biggest reason I was excited about the whole process leading up to it, is because you felt like NIU was actually playing and earning an elite bowl spot. The current bowl system does not allow performance on the field to equate to quality of post season opportunity. There is no clearer example than in the MAC where the 3rd or 4th place team gets the better bowl matchup. It was highly refreshing to have a few weeks where results on the field translated to the post-season.

Indy needs a bowl.Just there for NCAA Lacrosse tourney. Plenty of hotels, nightlife w/in walking distance, 3 hrs from Chicago, within 5 hrs for much of MAC.

If I recall correctly, he was at the Indepedence Bowl watching Ohio and was not at the Orange Bowl.
